I was just tooling around the forums and I'm always seeing random comments about the mod being great with the exception of this flaw or that flaw. I just want to say that I love this mod. It's the most fun and challenging mod I have played. Not only that, it is incredibly stable. I'm running 1.1 on the RTW.exe with the formations mod, forced diplomacy, and the latest EBBS script optimization. I have had 0 CTDs since the beginning of my Romani campaign. Additionally, I was recently watching the war between the Aedui and Arverni unfolding, and I have to say I am impressed by the forces they are bringing to bear against each other. Not only are they using full stacks, the stacks are really well balanced armies with a good mix of elites, sword infantry, spear infantry, and cavalry.

I am happy they're fighting each other and not me. Out of curiosity, what are everyone else's experiences with AI troop composition from the various factions? So far I am very impressed. Thanks to the EB team for one hell of a mod.

What does the "formations mod" do?

In a nut shell they improve the battlefield AI and give the player various formations to choose from such as the roman republican and imperial legion formations etc.

Yeah, I play with Darth Formations (sp?) on H/M with BI patched to 1.6 and all latest fixes. The only thing I've experienced so far is a CTD after a battle, which I replayed finely. As for army compositions, the AI are actually fielding an interesting mix of infantry, cavalry and skirmishers. Will probably post some pics of my ongoing campaign sometime:yes:
Yup, I agree. In vanilla I was getting sick fighting full stacks of only elite swordsmen or skirmishers.
There still is one flaw, though: Are Epirotes supposed to have 1/2 of army composed of peltastai? Their armies seem to look like: 4 units of phalanx + 2 units of cavalry + 6 units of some kind of skirmishers all the time. Besides that everything is perfect :).
speaking of which
what does the following do:
1-sinuet formation mod do?
2-the Marcus camillus mod
I now know what the darth mod does, but I wanna know the others (I have no info on them)

When I had RTW the AI were really stupid. But when I got EB they were more or less plain stupid. But I'm a NOT big fan of non-living things do things by themselves. Well when the act stupid atleast.

the marcus camillus mod allows some pretty handy player formations. I use it in EB, RTR-TIC and RTR-xxx...
can examples be given to what you say mcantu? (I won't install till I know)
and I still dunno what sinuhet's mod does...:embarassed:

Marcus Camillus adds default formations for the player only such as republican and imperial legion formation, eastern/barbarian/greek formation, etc. Theres also some handy icons by snake that replace your normal formation selection icons. The legion formations are great if you play the romani and get tired of placing your maniples by hand.
Darth and sinuet are basically modded formation files which change the battlefield AI and tweak various things to make the AI perform better and more cohesively on the battlefield. Which one you pick depends on preference. I prefer Darth but some people love sinuet. You really have to try both to see which you like better.
I believe these are a great addition to battle gameplay, and even historical accuracy in some sense.
