I’m playing as Rome in the year 197 BC. I just ended my turn and went to look inside Gader in southern Spain when I noticed four barrack building's had appeared under the title ‘Carthaginian Reforms’. I noticed these had also appeared in Carthago Nova and in Palma as well.

I’m just wondering what sort of impact this will have on my game? Will it stop me from getting the Marians for example?

I think it is a bug from EB 1.0 .....:book:

Which version do you use???

I’m using version 1.0

I sent a spy into some Carthaginians cities in North Africa and I noticed they had these four to six barrack buildings themselves, only with something like ‘new unit (+-)’ written in the description.

Do you know how this will affect my game and the Marian/Augustan reforms?

This is a bug we fixed some time ago. I would suggest you download and play EB 1.1.

Or at least download the v1.0 fix for the carthaginain reforms. If you leave things as they are you'll get a CTD eventually.

To answer the original question, it will not effect you as the Romani. It simply allows for the recruitment, for Carthage, of upgraded chainmail versions of certain units.

Is there a page where one could read assorted information about what each of reforms actually give to the factions? For example if I wanted to see the exact list of units Carthage gets after they are reformed.

Sadly eb.com doesn't split units into sections before and after reforms for anybody except Romans... It could be useful to add this to the FAQ...

This just reminded me that I was looking at my ex-Qarthadast settlements recently and expecting to see the reform building pop up. Guess that means it's really fixed.

Carthage get Libyan and Liby Phoniecian heavy infantry and Elite african infantry. I don't think there's anything else but I could be wrong.

They should also get Iberian Assault Infantry, at least, in my current Carthaginian campaign, I see them in the list of recruitable units for the level 5 factional MIC (in Lilibeo), but I can't actually recruit them.

I spoke too soon; I'm at 197BC and the Carthaginian reform markers have appeared in Mastia, Gader, Karali and Lilibeo.

Cheers for your answers. I imagine you’ve just answered the mystery of my first game, where I got down to 200 BC and then the game crashed on me and refused to load up again! Gutted to have got to 197 and still be looking at the same problem again!

This may be a daft question, but would I have still have had these reforms pop up if I'd have taken out Carthage earlier than 200?

By the wya. What's up with Carthage subjugation resources. Recruitment viewer says one can build type 2 in Italy and all I see there is expansion so max level 3 allowed. Does this change with reforms?
