I have asked this kind of question already concerning how to combat Romans when playing a Hellenic faction. Having searched the forum, I found no help in fighting Hayasdan, so I'm gonna start this thread in the hope of hearing some advice regarding which units and which tactics one should use if one was playing a hellenic faction and making war against Hayasdan...

And we're talking Hayadan far into the campaign, when they've conquered most of the Caucasus and have several full stacks. What does one need to defeat them and what is absolutely useless against them? :)

16 units of phalanxes + 4 FM = Instant Win!

Thessalians and horse archers mercenaries, to pursuit those horse archers. Phalanxes should do fine against the Hayasdan bodyguard and their infantry.

It would be wise to conquer some cities in the Back Sea to get regionals horsearchers

ok thx :laugh4: It was mainly the 'how-to-defeat-horse-archers-with-phalanx' I was worried about. Hadn't thought of regional horsearchers :laugh4:

EDIT: btw - in the 'Card Backs' in the EB folder, where there are those maps where you can see where units can be trained - well, the green areas are where they can be trained I guess, but what then are the red areas... FX elephantes indikoi has green in the Indian areas, presumably because they can be trained here. But then Antioch and a province of Epirus is coloured red?

That means only some factions can recruit them there. In this case the Epeirotes and AS can recruit Indian elephants in Epeiros and Antiocheia respectively (to represent breeding programmes, apparently).
