Wars of the Diadochi - FAQ

What is Wars of the Diadochi?
Wars of the Diadochi, often abbreviated to WotD, is a mod for Rome - Total War, starting in the year of 310 BC.

What version of RTW do I need?
Wars of the Diadochi will be for Rome - Total War 1.5. Any other version of Rome - Total War will be incompatible

Do you support the Barbarian Invasion expansion pack?
It is too early to tell, but it's unlikely that the Wars of the Diadochi team will officially support BI.

Will RTW: Gold work with Wars of the Diadochi?
It will.

I am an awesome modder and I wish to help WotD. Who should I approach

Of course, we welcome any kind of help. When you do, you can best speak to either Spartan or Gebeleisis, and tell them a bit of your work. They will then forward this to us, and we will check whether we are in need of your skills.

Historical questions:
Why did you choose 310 BC as the starting date?

Well, 310 BC was a period when a lot of interesting stuff happened. Antigonos Monophtalmos who was extending his reach in Asia Minor, commanded his general Nikanor to attack Babylonia with a large army, the tyrant of Syrakuse, Agathocles had just landed an invasion on the Carthaginian soil, Ptolemaios Soter was attacking Kilikia and the Romans start a new war against the Etruscans.

[insert faction] didn't own that city/province during that time!
Of course, if you have knowledge that some cities were under the control of someone else during 310 BC, you are more than welcome to point us to this. However, please be polite when you do so.

Are there any Gauls/Celtic factions in the mod?
Sadly, we will not include any Gallic or Celtic factions in the mod. The Galatian invasion of Phrygia and the Aigai didn't start until 280 BC, and the map for WotD doesn't stretch far enough to include a Celtic faction. We love the Barbarians (Gebeleisis does anyways), but as the map doesn't stretch far enough, I suggest you try another mod (I recommend Europa Barbarorum)

Are there any 'barbarian' factions in the mod?
Yes, there are. If you want a barbarian flavor, there are at least three factions you can play with.

Please note this is only still W.I.P.

In time, the FAQ will be updated.

Well, we're currently working on the ingame map, but we do have another map which shows most of the provinces and who owns it, but it isn't available for the public :D

That's alright, at least tell me the west-most point and east-most point. I want to know where the map stretches to. It is Italy to India right?

The western most point is Sardinia and Corsica, and the eastern most point will be around east-India.

Is it possible for all of the diadochi to be swept away by the Romans, that is what happened historically.... Are the Romans playable?

Perhaps, perhaps. Though the Diadochoi weren't exactly swept away by the Romans, they swept eachother away.

yep, they bashed eachother, and ended up easy targets to the romani.
