Lo ppl.

I´am currently planning a MOD ( a big one ) to make the game even more fun than it already is for me. I would like to gather some opinions before I get started with it ... when it´s done I´ll surely make it available for ya guys http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif .

There is something about MTW I found to be kinda odd. How are the Turks (example only) gona recruit Ottoman Infanterie in Wessex for example ?

I plan to change many (not all) units so they can be only produced in certain Provinces (like Kerns/Gallowglas with Ireland).

In my opinion thats more realistic ... however it has to be done with care.

Idea is ... eg. The English can only train Basic units + some certain Muslim units in Antioch. Why shouldn´t the Saracenes be willing to fight for the English ... if they Govern the Province well (without Rebelion) and Pay good money ?
Surely not every single type of Unit should be available to everyone but I find it highly unlikely that the Danes are able to train Vikings in Egypt.

I hope you get my point.

Surely a MOD like this needs some planning and research before it can be done right.
So far I have only given it a thought or two.

My idea is to give small factions some more Provinces and Units to make them more of a challenge when the AI controls them. I think changing AI behaviour is a good idea too, in some cases.

A question that is realy giving me trouble is : Which Units to make available to everyone and where there would be the Areas those Units are most likely to be build. (and which ones should be restricted to only one faction ... and why)

A thing to remember is that Muslim, Orthodox and Catholics will gain the ability to build Units that usually belong to another Faction/Religion if they capture the right Provinces.

Another thing is that I would like to improve the amount of Resources (esp. Iron) on the campaign Map. Which Provinces have been forgotten by the Devs ?
Due to my Egypt vacation I know that the Egyptians only had interest in Sinai because of its rich Goldmines ... Do you know of more things like that ?

No faction should be able to produce any other factions Elite troops. It shouldn't be that hard to produce reg. troops from a different faction. History is replete with
examples of common units fighting with so called enemys, but you can do that by building Inns.

I think this is a great idea. Not so much to give a player access to other factions troops (which, as someone has already pointed out, can be hired as mercenaries), but to limit their unique units from being made in a foreign land. The Byz. shouldn't be able to take over a highly built up territory, and immediatly start cranking out Varangian Guard - for example.

As for research, i think common sense, and known faction start positions, will go a long way...
