My game has been fine up until this point, but I've hit a problem with Ak-Ink, which caused a repeatable CTD when a battle was finished. I'm certain the root of the problem is the cloned Getai Family Member, both called Gudila:

You might also notice that the banner from Ak-Ink seems to have vanished with them as well. I could only get out of the battle-end-CTD loop by auto-calc'ing. Before that I'd retreated, the two clones followed and whether played out or auto-calc'ed, it would CTD after the battle.

Save is here (http://www.2shared.com/file/3349117/92a1708b/cisalpinegaul.html).

My concern is that I won't be able to go anywhere near those two without it crashing the game. Is there any way to remove one of the clones? I should be clear it hasn't yet caused any new problems since getting out of the problem battle, but it can't be good.

I've not tried it to see if I get any other crashes, I think as long as I leave them alone my game is alright.

Something that might be a cause of all of this is switching scripts around. I revert to the old (slow) script whenever I want to install a client ruler, then switch back to the optimised one for faster between-turn times.

I also save-load a fair bit whenever I'm using Force Diplomacy. Apparently multiple saves within one session messes with the script.

My game is Huge unit size, H/M on RTW 1.5, with most of the fixes apart from the UnitSize one and the newer optimised script.

It appears that it's a problem when client rulers are adopted into the family. Then they retain their old unit of local bodyguards, and in addition get a unit of the faction bodyguards in a clone. I don't know any way around this, if the game crashes due to them. Possibly the new client ruler script will fix it, but I doubt it, and certainly not retroactively.

Have you tried to assassinate the guy? Or kill him with the generic script?

I did something equally nefarious; I used move_character (which fortunately worked, his internal name being the same as the one we see) to transport him to that tip of an island off Arabia where he can't leave. He ghosts whenever the cursor rolls over him, which I remember reading elsewhere was a sure sign of a clone. Good job too, he was on his way to attack me.

Let's hope he doesn't crash the game when he eventually dies...

Fingers crossed. Thing is the clones aren't the same age, one was a year older than the other. Does that mean one might die and then the other would be fixed? They were in their 40s so I've got at least 20 years before that happens.

I had a quick look at him. His "father" in the family tree is only 6 years older, so he must be adopted. He's got the Client Ruler trait but, since you were playing as the Romans, the Client ruler script couldn't have been involved. He must have been bribed. But the name Gudila is only valid for Getai characters. I think that means he would have to have originally been eleutheroi. It's an odd coincidence that his adoptive father is also named Gudila. I haven't seen this sort of duplication in the case of adoptions before, only marriages.

I'm afraid I don't have any insight into this problem.

So what might happen when one of them dies in exile? Will the game automatically CTD, or will that stack become a normal one again?

He/they died, and it reverted to being a normal stack:

So I moved them back to Dacia, and all is well in my game. Big relief.

I'm having this again, now with a Macedonian starting family member. You see: starting FM, so no client ruler, not adopted or whatever. It's Euchrous Mitylenaios this time, and his clone has the same traits but only 1/3 body guard size. Furthermore, they're both marked as the commanders of their stack (gold star). I can provide a screen shot and a save game if necessary.

The game doesn't crash, but I noticed it accidentally when spying on a stack that's idling around. I'm increasingly curious to know how this happens. Gonna move him to Cape Horn for the moment.

EDIT: Hm, looks like he actually starts out as a client ruler, originally (missed out on that in descr_strat), so he must have gotten adopted. Apparently I'm gonna have to install the optimized script, then.
