View Full Version : Is this going to cause a crash at some point?

I tried to boost Pontos' army, and gave them a unit that's apparently not on their roster (Greek Medium Cavalry):

If they were to get into an actual non-auto-calc'ed battle, would that cause a crash? Or would we just seen peasants on the screen behaving like cavalry?
Is there any way to remove them (like a reverse "create_unit" command)?
Nope, they are just normal Hippeis, something went wrong with processing the UI cards.

So I'm safe then?
yeah its safe. but why did you add Hippeis? Pontos already has a Hippeis equivalent medium cav unit...

Probably not. I've had ctds with this kind of thing a couple of times. The one occurrence I can remember was when playing as Pontos I tried to artificially bolster the garrison at Chersonesos in 263 to ensure the Sauromatae didn't get their sticky mitts on it before I could complete my invasion force for the following year.
Upon actually getting there when I assaulted the city I got a ctd because simlarly the units I'd created hadn't shown up properly on the strat map beforehand - and that kind of thing isn't a one off in my experience. So, personally I'd recommend you either auto resolve if necessary or reload and when using 'create_unit', if you're trying to add cavalry, I'd add some Cappadocian Medium Cav or the Generic Asiatic cavalry instead.

Because I didn't have access to any of the files at the time, and assumed they were mercenary so anyone could have them.

You should be safe as long as battles between these Pontic Hippeis and other forces are resolved through autocalc.

Fair enough, I've just got to hope the Seleukids do my work for me there, they've already killed one of them. Problem is there are 8 of them in total...

All but two of those units are now dead, and those have less than a dozen in them each, so I might have gotten away with it.
