before you answer, you best have good evidence(i.e other than Osprey and that frenchy named one). And preferably have a knowlege of hellenistic warfare....XD

as the title suggests, I'm inquiring into the colors used on the Linothorax (and the clothing in general) in the period 350-280 BC (its for Diadochi: TW). as skinner there, I'm basically gathering data, and this would be of great help for me, until a modeller shows up.

and no one has answered this q that I've asked in EBII: did they really color their helmets? (the hellenistic soldiers).
this is not a spam post. I really want to make sure that the colors used in EB1on the armor= what they should be in D: TW:beam:

(its only partially finished-work is on hiatus due to a modeller shortage)

thanks and:balloon2: :balloon2: in advance.

There are positive proofs for helmets painted red and black. Blue is much more questionable, as this colour is often used to show polished iron or silver. I do believe in blue painting, but you will find many who will argue against it.

Red and black are supported by helmets painted on the walls of macedonian Lyson&Kallikes's tomb and by common usage of such helmets in medieval period.
Blue appeares on many objects, for example on so called "Alexander's sarcophagus" from Sidon.

I am composing an article on the uses of colour in the Hellenistic military right now (relating to the third and second centuries BC, but nonetheless relevant to your mod) and I can send you some information next week if you drop me a line at rubenpostca@hotmail.com .

Short answer to your question: for the period you are interested in, we see linothorakes in purple, pink, red, yellow, and some other colours (Alexander sarcophagus, Aghios Athanasios, some other Macedonian tomb paintings). For helmets, we see them painted in red, purple, perhaps pink (depending on how you want to interpret the colour of the Kinch tomb painting), and blue, though as Etairos has pointed out, this is most likely used to represent iron. The Lyson and Kallikles tomb paintings are probably not all that relevant for your mod considering that they are thought to date to the second century BC.
