The fix link is here:
http://files.filefront.com/DS+RomaniFix+Updaterar/;10490293;/fileinfo.html
This is only an update to Darth Stalin's full mod. It includes all his original files with the exception that the previous Cohors Imperatoria skin has been changed to the Gallic helmet skin (submitted by Obelics). No other changes have been made. I have not play tested so please let me know if it works.

No problem! Please let me know if this fix is working for you.
I downloaded Darth Stalin's skin fix but the units are the same. I wanted to see them for myself so I tried custom battle but the unit cards were still of those big-headed legionnaires. I tried it anyway to see if maybe the unit card is glitched but nope, same unit.

@defiant
I just checked the files that I uploaded and the files look correct. The dictionary entries and soldier types look right as do the unit card labels.
Is anyone else having this issue?
@Lz
Yes, just unzip into the folder that you have EB installed in, not the EB folder itself. If you get an overwrite prompt, you probably did it right.
i repeat the post i posted in the wrong thread...
so great news, i will try it as soon as i can. Love the EB0.72/0.74 legionary skins. We can say now that the old guys are back! Hope it will work, i had no problem with the DS fix, so i thing this should work too.
salut!

I swear I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I just re-installed RTW and EB. It's vanilla like it should be. I tried to download the skinfix but the units are still the same when I went to custom battle. I'm already frustrated and starting to lose hope. :wall:

@mucky305:
OK, thanks a lot for Your work! I’ve only taken “old” Romans and put them into new EB; You did much more work.
In fact I’d have to ask You for permission to use Yours Legionaries in what I’m gonna do as “my” mini-mod (compilation of various mini-mods and my own ideas.
@All others users:
sorry for being absent so long, but I had lots of non-EB-related work in real life to do...
I’ve downloaded the sprite fix and I’m gonna to look into its files – mostly the DMB file; I’ll merge my changes with the fix and upload the changed fix so as it would fit with “official” sprite fix.
I think that maybe I’ll be able to merge my fix with mucky’s – as he’s the author of updated legionaries – maybe this can be renamed as “Mucky’s and DS’ Legionaries minimod”?
Of course first I’ll look into results of mucky’s work – I can’t wait to see these guys in combat...
Thanks for Your work, mucky!

@Defiant
Were you prompted to overwrite files when you extracted the files in the fix? I checked the files again and they are correct. If anything, if you extracted to the correct place the overwrite of the DMB file would cause an error and the game wouldn't load. Make sure that you extract to the folder in which you have EB installed, not the "EB" folder itself. If you are prompted to overwrite files then you probably did it correctly.
@Obelics
Thanks for the 0.74 skin this is a fix I've been hoping to do for a while so the access to these files is much appreciated.
@Darth
Thanks for your fix and I look forward to your minimod! Use whatever files you need. I must mention that the skins are not my work though, they come from the Modding Legion 1.5 Full Pack available at TWC. Have fun!:2thumbsup:

Bump
why were these guys changed for the new ones? :inquisitive:

I think was just the EB team adding some new flavor and changes to the Romani faction. They did change alot with many factions and probably knew that some would complain if changes were not done for the Romans. Also, I know for a fact that a TON of research was done to ensure that the new Roman skins were historically correct, even down to the belts and such. I just like these guys for continuity.

This is weird. I am following instructions, but the game just won't load...I'm using it with TWFanatic's phalanx mod, BTW...and the game just stops working at the opening screen. any suggestions?
Thank in advance for your help

This looks great, but I have a question. I'm already around 200BC in my Romani campaign and I don't want to begin all over again. When using this mod can I keep on playing my current campaign?

I don't think so. Trying downloading the 1.2 mini mod pack by ||Lz3||, it includes this mini mod in it.

Hi, since 1.2 the meaning of life darth stalin's romani fix is now invalidated and won't work with 1.2
i have tried installing the mod pack the recent version RTW_pack3.exe into the rome total file directory
not into eb or into eb data but into the first file rome total war. I have recieved errors and the game won't even work. If there is a way to get just darth's mod life would be great again.

You disabled the trivial script...
And... yes you could get theese files... only. it's quite simple... if you know how to mod the EDU :smash:

I know somebody has the original files, I think waiting two years and two days is satisfactory to ask again.
Somebody please upload this minimod! (Might it be possible to extract the files from a minimod pack? Rome for me please).

I was going through my old EB modding folder, and I am 99% sure I have found what you are looking for: 3038

Really thanks a lot for that Seer7!
There is however one problem. When I install it, EB will quit upon start. So there is probably a bug.
With my almost zero modding experience I went looking around and I might have found the cause:
The Readme speaks about a EB 1.1 patch, the export_descr_unit and descr_model_battle txt's won't comply with the system EB 1.2
There probably is someone around here wise enough to get the 1.2 export_descr_unit and descr_model_battle and put the lines from the minimod in it.
That is my theory however, I could be completely wrong and that it conflicts with another mininod.
Thanks again, we are at least getting closer to our prize....~D

Flvvivs,
If you are still looking for a solution, I have one for you. If you have a PC, I suggest downloading Winmerge, a free popular piece of software, which compares and finds differences between files, including text files. If you compare the two files, and find where there exists a difference relevant to the Gallic helms--rather than to the differences between EB 1.1 and EB 1.2--then it is exceptionally intuitive and simple to copy these over into the 1.2 file. I just discovered Winmerge last night, and found it really easy--it let me incorporate the Phalanx Mod into my EDU.

Thanks mate, I am still waiting and lurking, maybe I can fix this now.
I will download it soon.

problem solved. thanks for re-upping this.
I forgot I posted in this thread, but it has been two years. Since then I've learned my way around the EDU and DMB and altered the appropriate lines manually, quite easy once you know how.
If anyone's still having trouble just say so and I'll post a tutorial.

I could use some help. I thought everything was all set, but I see this partially overwrites the sprites fix, I think. I do not know specifically which lines are changed to what in each fix in the DMB. I compared the 1.2fix DMB with this one on winmerge and there are many minor differences. I don't know what to keep and what to overwrite. I have a vague idea of what to do but I am ignorant of how sprites work, any insight is welcome.
Hi moriluk, I'll see if I can help you.
Sprites are controlled in the DMB by the 'model_sprite' line in the specific unit entry. Due to the hardcoded limit on the number of models the game can handle, many units share models and use different skins. The 1.2 fixes and Darth Stalin's release are incompatible because he changed the entries for some units. Eg. In the 1.2 DMB the Cohors Praetoriana are on their own while the Cohors Imperatoria / Cohors Evocata share a model, in his release this has been reversed. So, it's not enough to just change the line which deals with the sprites.
Your best bet is to copy DS's entries for the units he modified (the aforementioned) into the 1.2 DMB, overwriting the old ones, and use that. They're right next to each other, so it shouldn't be hard. Doing so, however, will mean you'll have to modify the EDU as well, because that will change the appropriate model entry name. Stick with me, because here's how you do it:
Back up your files first. Then, after copying and overwriting the 1.2 entries for the Cohors, open the EDU and use the find function to find the entries for the Cohortes Praetoriana, Cohortes Imperatoria, and Cohortes Evocata. The model line isn't called 'model', it's called 'soldier'. Once you've changed the DMB entries, you just need to change the first part of this line, which has been bolded. Eg.
soldier roman_infantry_cohorspraetoriana, 50, 0, 1.2
to
soldier roman_infantry_cohorsevocata_cohorspraetoriana, 50, 0, 1.2
Basically, the 'type' entry in the DMB corresponds to the 'soldier' entry in the EDU. You will have to modify the entries not only for the aforementioned units, but the Imperial first Cohort as well (its entry in the EDU is right after the regular Cohortes Imperatoria). That's it.
After you've modified the entries, try and start up the game. If there are any problems, it will let you know.
If you have any questions or problems, just ask.

Thanks. I will give this a shot. what i did was made an installation of eb 1.2 without fixes and compared it to eb1.2 with fixes to see what the fixes actually are. it looked as though only a couple of lines were changed in the DMB for the sprites fix (and most of the stuff was just 'missing' items). I manually made those changes to my regular installation. At least I think i did everything correctly. I guess this would be the opposite of what you are recommending. I am always playing around with this game, my next install i will attempt what you are suggesting and let you know if i run into trouble. thanks again for the response.
