On the never-going-to-play-this-game-again shelf.

I know its the umpteenth time you hear this.

But I´m so damn tired of all the CTD and it´s so many other bugs, they wont release the patch, not even a patch to fix the most important bugs. They dont care for their customers.

Thanks for destroying a damn good game. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/mad.gif http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/mad.gif http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/mad.gif

CA, Activision if any of you see this hurry up with the patch before you dont have any customers to buy your future games. I know I won´t buy any of your games anymore. And you should know that rumors spreads fast and easy.

Bah, it doesn't need a reubuttal. He's absolutely right.

I personally don't have problems with the game, but who can't sympathize with people that do?

Brings me to Heavy Gear 2, a game a bought a while ago, beautiful mech combat game, (if you're into that sorta thing), but it crashes like a ho. (perhaps not a fitting analogy)

It has a point where it consistently crashes at the end of like the 8th level, which isn't much for a game that is made up of a long string of short levels in a campaign. So of course, this game, which I happen to adore, being a fan of the genre, and of its particular design, I just can't play!

Frikin activision released about 1 patch for it, has a ineffecitve self help section for it, (at least ineffective for me), and when I take the last step and go for personal assistance I get the run around. The RUN AROUND! indeed. indeed.

I will buy the next CA game, the developers have real genius, and their popularity will only come to increase. (except for the boss that wont let them post on the internet, I'd flame him if I could).

Activision though, I hope Ca can avoid them in the future. (which is painful because activision publishes so many great games, they've gotten lazy in their years of dominance)

I get the picture in my mind of the CA hiding in the woods waiting for reinforcements to climb up the 3 mile hill. Who shall we send in the woods?

I've had some trouble with crashing, ...like a ho! ...lol... It does help to save game year after year, but I should have no trouble with my system.

As an added bonus to CA devs, though, if the patch came out I'd surely post much less frequently than I do now. But please do not hurry on my account.[/QUOTE]

Would that be considered positive or negative reenforcement? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Sorry to hear about your loss, And troubles. Wish you good luck with all the other games that will crash for the same reason.

Can´t help it but sympatize with Major Pain either. I remember Starfleet Comand, great game BIG crashes. But MTW is a dream to me. Just had one crash once, and true I´ve only played easy and moderate, but I like to play each faction at least once in each level of difficulty before going to the next one. I hope the patch solves your problems Major.
Saludos!!

Being the big sucker that I am, I am extremely forgiving of even the most odious problems with a game(such as diplomacy), so I've still been playing MTW every day when I get the chance, since none of the flaws are fatal.

That is until I couldnt get past a certain turn without the computer crashing to desktop, no matter what the combination of moves, no matter if i turned off auto save, reinstalled drivers and turned off extraneous soundblaster features. So yeah, I'm somewhat annoyed. I was willing to overlook the many bugs and lacking facets, but when the problem get the point of stopping me dead in my tracks, I quit. Obviously I really want the patch and will pick my save game up again when the patch comes out, but it will be with considerably less enthusiasm and zest. I'm quite disheartened over MTW.

At first when i got this game I loved it, but then I started to see all the problems. The AI is incredibly stupid at times, for example when your defending a hill and they just sit there while your arrows are tearing them up.But if you dont have arbalasters then archers are pretty much useless because their power from Shogun seems to be reduced by a half. And when you attack the enemy and your formation is longer then theirs, the men who arnt in the center just stand there.Oh and remember that Mongol mission where you have to kill both enemy generals? Its close to impossible because even if you surround them with guys all around they somehow miraculously make it out of my hundreds of spearmen and heavy calvary and retreat. And get this, one time when a enemy general attacked my spearmen, he stood there after all his men died for 10 minutes still fighting the spearmen. Those are only a few of the flaws with the battles, but there are still more. The only thing better about about the MTW battles from Shogun is all the units, but the units look all the same pretty much. The TB strategy part of the game is deeper but has many flaws as well.I know the patch will fix many of these problems but the word from some CA guy says that the patch is still in QA, that means they havnt even started it yet!

just to pour some salt on your wounds http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

i have never had a single crash with this game and no slowdowns unless i am playing a insanly large battle.

atleast with computer games they acutaly take note of the problems the community is having and try to fix them rather than ignore them like hardware manufactuters and other softwaremakers. i and many others have been shouting to dell to fix the bugs between the gforce go card and xp, but they just ignore and tell me to reinstall xp ...grrrrr http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/mad.gif

sorry im feeling a bit cruel today.

Hmmmm. I'm not sure yet. I have a few of the more common annoyances I share with people here, such as the 'ship-around-the-world-you-can't-catch-me' thing and the interesting 'hey look it's only two units of AUM, we can handle it' thing. I've had 2 crashes to the desktop so far, none of them really worsening my opinion.
One thing, however, that DOES form a LARGE part of my dissatisfaction with the game is the way some countries 'behave', if you can even call it that. The 'you're-the-player-I'll-thump-you-instead-of-another-faction' syndrom is a tad overdone at times (read: REALLY overdone) and feels in no way intelligent, to say the least, especially in a 'glorious achievements' game. Shogun was much more streamlined, even WITH the Hojo Horde thing.
As of yet, I'll keep at it (be it on easier settings than I can handle to keep things fun), but I'm anxious for the patch to come out also! Go CA! Et us our patch http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Mee too...

The AI I can live with.
The poor strategy interface I can tolerate - just.
The eventual CTDs (while trying to save the game) though are a show-stopper - I have yet to complete a single campaign.

The annoying thing ? I don't know if the patch will address my issue !

In the mean time I'm playing other games. I only visit this forum to see if the patch has come out yet - & chew the cud with you wonderful people http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif.

sorry you feel this way; it's frustrating, I know.
but there is already a thread ("This game is crap"..or something like that) wherein you can voice your opinion.
no need for this one.
