Hi there, i'm an old player of Rome and previous TW games who's just picked up Medieval 2, so of course came here first for all the tips and guides ~;) but am a little confused about the training of the family after a few short games to just get used to everything.
I've read the good governor, warmonger and keeping your family trimmed guides but am a little confused about how to implement these from the start. Basically I learn best from example so while informative the guides don't help me see there effective implementation.
Taking England as an example, I basically just leave the king to do watchtowers or to recruit mercs as he's 50 (from memory). The hier to the throne is 26 (from memory) and unmarried. In the good governers guide it recommends not building appart from military buildings and units until you have a 16 year old. Does it mean 16 year old hier because thats going to take an age to get the current prince to have a child and for it to come of age. Or does the guide mean any 16 year old?
On the game i'm about to start i'm planning on just using the existing prince as the warmonger and the first comming of age (think he's 14 at start) as the governer but am a little confused about how it will affect things as the guides implied that you want a good Pierty king as that affects the income of every city. But as the governer should really be getting pierty through building priests and churches what can you then do once the king is retired to get his pierty up to govern well?
My more extreme idea was to kill off the king and the two princes who are ahead of the 3rd prince before any of the children of the princes have come of age as I think that would shift the royal line to the governer prince.
So as England what do you do to train your family at the start ?
