a little bit strange,i besiege syracuse as romani. on the wall, only toxotai and low pelts fight against my samnite heavy infantry.
normally i only loss 5 or max 10 of my units jump down the wall when figthing. finally the samnites loss nearly half, 38 man, but only 4 where killed in action - the rest are suicide jumpers... is this a bug or the combatbonus for the defenders?
did someone has the same experience or a antitactic for this jumpers?

yeah, probably the fear of melee with toxotai...:duel:
mhh, good to see that it happens sometimes, probably a bug with extreme wall defence stats or something like that (i doesn´t look at the enemy general).

never had much problems with it myself, but I often noticed that as soon as my defending enemies' unit rout, they just run straight over the edge.

figures most of my jumpers were spartans fighting some missile troop.

It makes sense, being the quickest way to get to the plaza. :P

Right, in case u survive the fall u can crawl towards the plaza while dragging your broken legs with u, definitley the shortest way, but not the most time efficient one I guess.

:laugh4: LMAO!!!!! Hilarious...
But in all seriousness, I noticed this bug once with the AI. As soon as they jumped off their siege towers onto the wall, a lot of them missed, fell, and died. A battle that I should've completely lost turned into a heroic victory...

Actually i think theres evidence of this happening at the seige of Suguntum by Carthage, just by the attackers not seeing through the dust and running right off the edge. I cba to find it now lol, its too late.
But this often happens to me (i say often, i mean it has hapened a few times) when my men just disappear off the wall. Usually happens to the Large Stone Walls, in the extra wall support bits, men just jump off and fall through the wall, if that makes any sense :inquisitive:

Suicide jumping from the wall seems to be a pathfinding error. It happened to me recently:

I my case, it seems that the broken wall lead to a broken set of pathfinding waypoints.
Something similar just happened to me, where my full unit of hastati (160) attacked a depleted unit of massilian hoplitai (33) on a straight part of a wall (Medium battle diff.). According to the status text, my hastati were constantly winning and the hoplitai constantly losing, but this didn't really seem to be the case, as my hastati kept jumping off the wall during the fight. In the end, I had to send in two units of principes to fight the massiliotes and had about 20-30 hastati left when the enemy was routed. One of the principes units also sustained heavy casualties, although I believe most of these actually came from fighting, not jumping off the wall.
This is of course a bit different, as my units jumped off the wall during fighting, not just for fun! :)
