Uh... stupid question really. But... How do you take screenshots and in which folder do they appear?

I'd suggest downloading FRAPS instead, personally. Works with Vista as well as XP, and its easy and simple to use and to tell it where you want the screenshots to go. I think www.download.com might have it, not sure though. :book:

so there isn't a built-in screenshot device in TW/EB?
(1) hit "print screen" on oyur keyboard,
(2) quit EB (or use "alt+tab" if you run EB with the -ne shortcut),
(3) open Paint or any other grafics programm,
(4) select "paste"
(5) done

Thanks :D
Seems rather odd that that means you can only take one screenshot per game (I mean, having to quit), but since I don't particularly care for the usual screenies and only want to take a pic of my empires, when they're "complete" (as large and impressive as I want them) and of whatever hilarious graphical mistakes the game sometimes make, I'll do just fine :laugh4:
Add -ne to the shortcut you start EB with and you can switch between EB and other windows in Windows-mode (make sure you have something to switch to running before you start EB).

Believe me, that's too technical for me. Besides my computer is too slow for that to be enjoyable - having other programs running besides EB prolly won't help either. But don't worry, I don't need plenty of screenshots, so you've solved my problem :)

Hmmmm. Rome has a built-in screenshot device, which takes screenshots when hitting print and puts them into a folder called TGAs, located in the Rome - Total War folder. At least my RTW does...
Yes, although many report that the screenshots turn up blank. I am told it has something to do with the anti-aliasing setting. Also, you need a program to convert .tga to .jpg or .bmp's.
FRAPS can be downloaded here (www.fraps.com); Howie's screenshot program is available here (www.howiesfunware.com). Howie's has the advantage of being able to save in .jpg, which takes less space, however FRAPS is more stable in my experience, and if you register it (and pay a small fee) it'll also save in .jpg's.

That is interesting. Well, i think i have anti-aliasing disabled.
A free program which can open and convert .tga is for example GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/), for anyone who is interested in this method.

Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm) is really handy for batch converting .tgas to .jpegs.
Like Lysimachos, I just use print screen and grab the screens from the TGA folder.
I actually prefer Ati-tool over Fraps. It also allows me to adjust my fan speed on the fly, which definitely helps with the temperatures around here...

Yeah, me too. I use Gimp. Doing it this way, you can take hundreds of screens in one go.

I use FSScreen. It was originally developed for MS Flight Simulator. It's very simple and does not slow down your game, but the disadvantage is that it saves in a row from fsscr.000 to fsscr.999. So I have to rename almost every picture I want to take, which are normally quite a lot. I have over 500 pictures left from my recent Carthage campaign. And I have already deleted the bigger part of my screenies...
Does anyone know a screenshot-program which is able to automatically rename screenshots?
