...you remember when Roman family members looked and spoke like greeks.

Tell us your memories from earlier versions of EB. My first campaign was a Romani campaign in 0.72, and I would like to hear stories from even earlier versions of EB.

I remember the day when you had to wait until 210BC for the Polybians and 107BC for the Marian Reforms. (I never got the Marian Reforms until v0.80.)

I remember bringing the body of Alexander back to Makedonia, at least I think I do-still not sure if it was real or a dream.

I remember when Europa Barbarorum was a research project with the explicit aims of improving the historical accuracy of Rome: Total War... back when I was but a wee lurker.

I also remember when Khelvan and Aymar de Bois Mauri were regular frequenters of the forum, and I actually knew the regulars around here.

I feel old.

Well, I guess if you've seen 0.6 or something? That one was never even 'public'.

Well okay, I have -access- to it! That means -something-.

I remember the Korintian Hoplites in my KH 0.74 campaign with the Xistophoroi(?) cavalry bodyguard, and i remember the Salamis bug in my 0.72 Pahlava Campaign that i continued in the 0.74 after a while.

You know you've played EB for a too long time when you go out on the bar, find some nice chick and assume this babe-magnet pick-up line:

"Why hello there... Could you be the lucky Aphistamenos to stand in the way of my charging kontos? Tonight I can be your Grivpanvar and you can be my little skirmisher. Hubba hubba hubba." *excessively raunchy winks while shucking and jiving*

You also know when you've played too long when you ask the bartender for Milesian wine of the 2nd century vintage. "I want the grapes that once adorned the lush hills outside Miletus.". It's a stupid line for "Can you serve me your cheapest Chardonnay on the 6$ range and add some twangy spit to it?".

No you don't. The really old versions were purged some time ago, and I don't even think any member has that anymore. Also, we didn't start using SVN until at least 0.8 was out.

Anyway, on topic, I remember playing Casse back when they were really hard. It took me at least 5 tries before I succeeded with evacuating to Ireland and hiding from the giant roving freemen armies until I was ready to take them on. And Iberia with skirmishers only against Carthage's might (as everything else was too expensive for my very limited budget).

Not to mention battling the reinforcement CTD for over a month.

I remember solving the Salamis bug, which brought about the hotfix for 0.73. And I remember my first campaign as Hayasdan in 0.74 that directly contributed to my joining the team as Hayasdan Faction-Coordinator.

I second that. I remember when Aymar de Bois Mauri was around, as well as Trithemius. I've actually been here for more then 2 years!??! I need a new hobby!

Ah yes, I was indeed a bit confused on that part. A shame though.

an EB museum of natural history anyone?

"and here we see a unit known to many as a corinthian hoplite. it existed manyy years ago, in EB v^0.7. they were extinct by v^0.8 :smartass2:, displaced by the earliest representatives of the Iphikratous hoplitai's ancestors, who once wielded mak-phalanx style spears. since EB 1.1 however, they have forsaken the combersome Mak phalanx style in favor of a more moblie element.:smartass:"

V.72 was the Public Beta release, so anybody who played an earlier version would have been a team member or Beta Tester. Ah the good old days....back when Yuezhi were a 4-unit Faction, not an Invasion (they actually have better units now then when they WERE a faction!)
