Is there any possible way of setting up and watching a battle that is contested only between computer players? I know it sounds boring and all but it's to help me with some AAR type thing I'm doing.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome, vertigo.

As far as I know, you can only make a replay of one of your own battles, then watch that.

Welcome to the Org, vertigo! ~

Tony is essentially correct. In MTW, there's unfortunately no real way to set up battles between two AI players and then watch them fight each other.

Conceivably, people could send you saved battles you could watch. Not AI vs AI, but someone could act dumb to make it look like it.

I suppose you could deliberately invade an enemy province that is about to be attacked by rebels, and then keep your troops well back so the enemy and the rebels duke it out. Also, I think there is some trick that allows you to change factions midway through a campaign. I'm not sure about that so don't quote me on it. If it is possible, then you could deliberately provoke rebellions in your own provinces, switch to one of your enemy factions, and then do the invade-a-province-about-to-rebel thing. If you saved the game at the right time, you could do this again and again, and see different rebel forces each time.

Not quite what you asked for, but maybe close enough?

Cant you just go on custom battle, create the attacking and defensive forces and only pick a general for yourself and withdraw at the start of the battle....

MTW does have custom battle like STW yeah ?

You can set up a campaign that only involves the AI. Now if only I could remember how to do that.

Well, I have a lot of replays with a lot of camels...:2thumbsup:

And if you play with -ian you can press "a" to make the game auto-run, but no battles

LittleGrizzly's absolutely correct! You lot should play a custom battle once in a while. ~:joker:

Go to custom battle, and set it so you've got two AI armies, one defending, one attacking - you will also be defending so essentially it's a 2v1 match. Choose only a single unit of soldiers for your army and whatever you want for you're ally and the enemy, then as you deploy, simply move your troops to the edge and flee (ctrl+o) as soon as the game begins.
Edit: Not that I use ctrl+o often in a campaign battle. <_<
