Exchanging gun crews

Can you use the crew from a KO'd artillery piece on a different one that has lost it's own crew??

I ask because I keep losing artilery in the Loire Valley "historical" battle - sometimes 2-3 guns despite having screens of otehr things forr the towers to shoot at.

About half and half are destroyed guns with full crew vs depleted crews, and I hate seeing al that ammo sitting there wasted when anothe hit or 2 could KO another wall section! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

ya I had this problem with that battle

I've concluded that the loire valley historical battle is thoroughly impossible without either a great deal of luck, or infinite ammo turned on.

(somtimes I run outta ammo having lost not 1 artillery, sometimes all but the 1 that is outta range)

Hmm..unlimited ammo...maybethat's the trick - pund the buggers till they cry "uncle"!

How do you get a gun out of range in hte scenario BTW??!!
