Families??

It seems to me, i don't know about the rest of you monarchs, but, some families seem to dominate the military. For example: I was playing France Late Period and conqured Spain (as you do) and then the Elmo's decided to be naughty and reappear in portugal, so the portugese rebel and their leader is a 5 start general, Sir Jean Poitven, so i promptly bribe him and he goes on to marry one of my daughters and get to 9 stars, then when i'm checking my armies (bout 50 or so yrs later) i find 4 or 5 Lord Poitvens running around, all with royal blood. Is this coincidence or not?? Cos if it's not then it's a very cool addition to the game, like charting a families progress (incidentally i had a civil war and it split the family in 2, luckily for me the original Lord Poitven was still loyal to me http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif)

Do you want to say, when you have a general married with one of your daughters, they've sons and you obtain them when you train troops????.

Really it is very interesting. Could you confirm this??????. I'm playing now with the french, i am going to experience this.....

I think that Poitevin just seems to be a very common name for the French. I had hundreds of them running around. Course, maybe they were all breeding from the first few, but I don't think the game follows family trees except the royal ones. I'd love it if I was wrong though.

I have had generals with exactly the same name before. Sometimes the names can be too common.

I know Poitven's a common name for the french (i've had heaps of em) but the thing that got me was that there were quite afew that had royal blood, that's the thing, and because the was 50 or years later i figured that the timing was about right. As to Einar's question, yes that's exactley right, although i'm not sure if they are sons, it just seems like to much of a coincidence.

another thing anyone tried the quick battle option ? i get the same battle over and over http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/confused.gif

and i have beaten the ai in the battle so it is not waiting for me to finish it before moving on the next one.

hmmmm i think this works cuz i had a 6 star gneral marry one of my princesses and then i started popping out 5 + stars princes......but i could be wrong if princes only come from a king + Princess not general + princess
