What mods should I install for the best experience playing this game? I've been playing EB for years now, but never modded the game.

Personally I consider Force Diplomacy vital for anything resembling sensible relations with the AI. Especially if you're playing on any campaign difficulty higher than Medium.

I think MAA's city mod is a nice depth-adding feature, but then again, I've never tried it. I try to keep EB as it is released, apart from the above-mentioned Force Diplomacy mod.

well for me I have my "perfect" mod now


alex.exe, konny's trait changes, TW fannatic mod , Aquilifer unit, darth's skin for legions, konny's victory conditions, force diplomacy , using Roma surrectum textures :sweatdrop: , AI mod (darth's and M camillus) and I dont remember what the hell I also put in my mod :laugh4:

Spoils sounds like a good idea but since I failed the first time I tried to make it compatible whit evything above ... and since it would add to the EBBS script (if I'm not wrong ...that would make AI turns take longer) I desisted on trying it ...


MAA is also a good mod , I'm afraid of using it actually....:sweatdrop:, the same as konny soci mod

Do not be afraid of that, it indeed does add to the EBBS but it like 0,01% of its total legth so you need not to worry that it would make your turns longer by any noticeable bit of time.:yes:

It is named as "micro-mod" for a reason, you see.:laugh4:

Any chance you could give me a link to some of those mods? I don't even know where to look lol

So far I THINK I've got the City mod, Alex.exe and force diplomacy, but honestly I'm not really sure. Any chance you could either tell me what I'm supposed to be editing to combine these mods or just zipping up what you've got and hosting it somewhere like rapidshare or megaupload?

as an update , now I have all the minimods I mentioned above , I could gladly upload them, I dont think there would be any problem , I just need to make sure my SoV (spoils) is working , and add the .cas files needed for the Aquilifer and legionaries

stay tuned I could be uploading this in a few hours :2thumbsup:

Adding CityMod on top of that bundle should work, correct?

I think all you'd have to do is make sure you include a readme with credits.

well I there would be problems whit MAA and konny's since both of em' change descr_regions

and also whit the aquilifer and darth's skins

as for my package I'm just waiting for help whit SoV since I cant make it work and I don't know why :wall:

"I found out on the .net forums in the sub mods section, I won't start a thread here as I don't want to take credit for someone elses work but I will post how to do it in this thread:

Make sure you back up the files before switching them.

1) Install Roma Surrectum - be careful as it breaks rtw and is not compatible with other mods, what I did was copy all of the vanilla rtw folders and files into a new section and installed Roma Surrectum there so it did not affect EB.

2) Go to RS/Data and copy descr_aerial_map_ground_types.txt

3) Paste it into EB/Data

4) Go to RS/Data/terrain/aerial_map/ground_types and copy every file in there.

5) Delete every file in EB/Data/terrain/aerial_map/ground_types and paste the copied RS files in.

6) Open up the RS descr_aerial_map_ground_types.txt in the EB data folder and infront of every word with .tga on the end paste this in front of it : ../../../../eb/data/terrain/aerial_map/ground_types/ in front of every tga file name in descr_aerial_map_ground_types.txt. Note Do not fill in your drive or the exact direction in ../../../../ because it makes the map right pink!"

Thanks man I was filling in my drive info and stuff

so instead of ../../../../eb/data/terrain/aerial_map/ground_types/rsgrouatlekbjatlkjbawltba.jpg
it was C:\Rome - Total War\EB\Data\aerial_map\Ground_types\RSoiubjaol3j5lkbja.jpg

but now ive got it straightened out :D

btw what exactly is MMA?

What exactly do the RS textures do? Does it only affect the way the map looks or the whole game in general? I just wanted to know if it had any unit-beautifying qualities? If it does then it sounds like a pretty tempting mod. However, if it only alters a few colors on the map then it's not a big deal for me. I mean, unless it's like..... REALLY freakin' pretty :clown:

they only change the look of the campaign map...

ad YES they really look freakin amazing :laugh4:

I've some screenshots in my thread (pack 1.1), I know hey're a little small however it does looks better trust me :yes:

Ok, I might check it out. Does it work with either RTW.exe or ALX.exe or both? Is it save game compatible? I'm just asking because I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'd like to try it on my current RTW.exe game. However, sometime in the future I'm gonna figure out how to get my EB to work on ALX.exe and when I do I'll probably try to move the RS textures over to ALX.exe if I like them.

PS: RS textures is save game compatible... and the work with any version of EB

in fact if I'm not wrong it's only not save game compatible if the changes is trait related or if it has something different in the descr_strat
