View Full Version : How do I make Keltohellenikoi recruitable for Epeiros in Mysia?

In my Epeiros-as-Pergamon game, Celto-Hellenic hoplites are the mainstay of my battle line. However aside from mercenaries, I can only recruit them in Nikaia.

I'm already "suffering" under not being able to build homeland governments in any of the locations I hold or want to hold, but it would be nice to recruit my regular infantry in more of my settlements.

Gallic factions can recruit them all across Anatolia, so it's not like it would be ahistorical to be doing so outside of the places where I currently can.

At the very least I'd like to be able to recruit them in Pergamon, but also possibly Byzantion and Sardis.

What file is it that needs to change?

Is it save-game compatible?

Other units that might be worth considering are Gallic Leuce Epos and Iaosatae as well. And noting that their description says as much, perhaps Galatian Heavy Spearmen.

I would suggest getting a new core unit or invading Galatia and Tylis. I don't think Pergamon would have recruited them. They probably would have had plenty of Galatian mercenaries, but they would be mercenaries or actually recruited in Galatia.

That being said, you have to change the recruitment lines in the export_descr_buildings.txt, and the change is completely savegame compatible. The coding for recruitment is pretty complex and you'll have to find the hidden_resources for the region from the descr_regions.txt or copy and alter one of the celtic factions' Keltohellenikoi recruitment sections.

As for governments, you don't have any elites as Epeiros in Anatolia, so the only thing you are missing with a Type2 government is the building bonuses, a high level structure or two, and role-play factor.

Hmmm, if it's complex maybe I should stick with spawning them in Pergamon and just taking 1250 mnai off as I have been doing? Plus there are lots of Gallic mercs floating about who could justifiably be said to be Galatian.

Not so worried about not having a Homeland government, to be honest, I wouldn't have recruited any of the Epirote elites anyway.

Should be:

recruit "celtic infantry keltohellenikoi" 0 requires factions { thrace, } and hidden_resource SW and hidden_resource D and hidden_resource n1 and hidden_resource y2 and hidden_resource y4 and hidden_resource n8

copy to the buildings that have the entry:

recruit "celtic infantry keltohellenikoi" 0 requires factions { thrace, greek_cities, macedon, }

(not tested)

Yes, but Keltohellenikoi represent different things for Celtic and Hellenic factions. For the Hellenes they are Hellenized Celts, while for Celts they are Celtized Hellenes. Compare their recruitment zones for a Hellenic and Celtic faction.
