View Full Version : restoring background movie

The questions are basically two:

1) suddenly the background movie (dump0000) about a week ago ceased to work anymore on vanilla Rome, and on the menu I only see the loading screen with the hoplites in guard mode.
I do not know why this.
I am sure that I didn't touch any program file and I don't really know why now I can't see the animation. Or at least I didn't notice any changement. So I am asking where should I see to control if that animation is "active" or "disabled" or whaterver, I didn't find a "toggle menu animation" option in the preferences or a file in the Data directory.
Also the intro video doesn't start.

2) I also want to put that animation into EB, since I really like it. So yesterday I first copied the dump0000 file into the Menu directory of EB, then I edited the Rome.lnt file and I added the <fmv> string of the original file.
But I don't know if these steps are all that I should do or I must do something else, or even if these steps aren't needed and I must do other things. So I'm asking for some advices.

Besides, with the problem 1 of above, I also can't verify if I'm doing well since the animation simply doesn't start in every version of Rome I have (vanilla, BI, EB).

1) Are you sure you don't have the -nm command (= no movies) next to the target line of the short cut?

100% sure. Never did anything, never touched the short cut properties. All worked as usual until one week ago, then suddenly without no apparently reason the background movies and the intros became disabled.

that happened with my Rome, and there are 2 options

1- update (or reinstall) windows media player
2- somehow you modified your vanilla files , so ... heheh that's going to be harder to solve

Hmmm, probably so WMP was changed somehow by a setup of another program that modified its settings... that's really boring.
