I'm not sure if this is the right forum, I tried to post in another one (on the forum list it was above the Tavern) but I was told I didn't have the rights to post there.

Anywho, a friend of mine heard me talking about M:TW at work, and he wanted to check it out, so I lent him my copy of M:TW -- I play with the VI disc, so I don't need the vanilla version. He had no problems installing it, and his computer is more recent/advanced than mine is. He has no problem with quick battles and such, but he says when he clicks on Campaign, it loads up to pick the faction, the era, and then when he begins the bar loads fully and then sends him back to the Main Menu. When he clicks on "Resume Campaign" the bar loads fully again, and the screen flashes, but he's still on the main menu.

I'm not too technologically aware, so I'm not altogether sure what the issue is. His drivers should be up to date, his video card, ram, and all of that. He says he checked the help info on the disc, and he said nothing was helping. He went through each one, and from what I gathered, he says it told him to turn off any other applications/programs that were running, but none were. So we're both baffled.

He knows more about it than I, so I'll try to get him to explain it if I missed something...

Here he is:

Yeah, thats pretty much it. I have directX 9 and thats newer than the 8.whatever is on the disc. It told me to set my display to the same as the game, and I did. It hasn't helped. What am I missing?

MTW is troublesome to say the least on newer system. Post his system specs here and I can give you a rough idea as to what may be the issue.

Alright, I'll ask him about it next we speak.

Also, really quick question about the Forum set-up... Is there a way I can change it so I can see an entire thread, and not just one post? I see the "Display Modes" but all of them show me just one post and the optional thread-tree above. Am I missing something?

There's your problem: Intel Integrated Graphics. It's very doubtful that you'll get MTW running on that. Your only hope is trying older drivers. Read through this thread: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=69367

Read the whole thread, not just the first few posts. There is an older driver version in there that may work.

Thanks, mate. I'll pass the word, so he'll have a chance to figure it out. I'm pretty technologically retarded.

Go to your "User CP" in the upper-left corner of the forum.

Under "Your Control Panel", click "Edit Options" (under Settings & Options).

Page down until you get to "Thread Display Options".

Under "Number of Posts to Show Per Page", select how many posts you want to be displayed at a time (I believe 30 is usually the default, although I have mine set to 60 posts per page).

Page down to the bottom and click "Save Changes".
