I play the english and have 8 to 10 priests preaching about.

One of them is rank 3 while the others have 0 stars. I have had 2 of them in a muslim country converting and have turned the population from 5% to 45% Catholic and they are both still 0 stars.

I never even notice my 3 star priest increasing in rank. Might he have started as 3 stars?

Thanks.

Most likely, he was born with 3 stars. I've noticed many factions produce higher rank strategic agents first thing - Guy of Gisbourne among the most noteworthy.

The strategic agents seem to get stars by successfully "doing" something, i.e. assasinations, trials, raising rebellions, surviving assasination attempts, etc. Unfortunately, just sitting in Antioch converting muslims doesn't count.

Attempting to kill your own priests with your assasins is one way of leveling up both. The priests that survive will get stars, the assasins that succeed will too. It's a win/win.

Well, except for the guys that die. heh.

Priests go up in ranks by successfully proposing alliances.

Priests can propose alliances? Not too sure about that one, someone correct me if I am wrong.

they can, and they gain ranks by surviving assassin attempts.
