First off...after a year or so, I was finally able to install M2TW and plays great. However, whenever I go to type in the ö in Königsbergin the console, I have been, so far unsuccessful. I've even temporarily converted the keaboard to the Deutsch setup...however, even though all the other umlauts work, the ö seems to just close the console. Could anyone tell me how to resolve this?

I believe M2TW recognizes your keyboard in a certain manner so that ö open/closes the console.
However, you don't normally need to type "ö" in the console: All CA produced maps may display "ö" in a name, but are referenced in files as "o" instead.

So say you want to process_cq on Königsberg, you would use process_cq Konigsberg.

Hope that helps

It just says, "settlement not found". I've already tried it. The only way around it is edit the imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlements.txt.

Well I don't have kingdoms so I can't say for sure, but in M2TW stuff like HRE names with umlaut usually can usually be referenced in the console as the letter without.

Go with what Ron says though as he has Kingdoms.

On the map we are working on at the moment though, that's different.

The only way I could get those names to work is if I used Alt+3numpad numbers. I never knew the right compinations so it sometime took a while to get the right ones...

Unfortunately, this is a laptop on which the num pad numbers only seem to bring up the equivalent letters on the command as i have tried the combination bit. I do sort of wished Dell would have had the num pad separate...hahaha. When i tried to convert it to Deutsch settings, as said earlier...it closed the console. However, when I held in the ";" it typed the ö. This is btw my desktop cpu i'm using at the moment...

is there perhaps a setting in which to change the key to open/close the console? ...I know I'm somewhat retarded when it comes to this sort of crap...lol.

Do I just alter the ö to a "o" or more appropriately a "oe" by deleting the ö and adding it in?

Merged your 4 posts for you ~:)

I am not positive you can change the console assigned key in the settings, though someone may correct me.

Instead of changing the files which is a lot of work, I would recommend you go to the settlement screen of Königsberg and double click the name. You will notice you can manually edit the name then to something more suitable which the console also works by.

Realy? Thanks for the merge btw. I'll try the whole city renaming bit a little later when I get back on.

I have tried what you recommended Faction, and it DID work. Thanks for the info...I only have one issue i have left, but I'm gonna try to fix that problem on my own for awhile...
