Diadochi name question

I'm currently playing around with the notion of creating a Rome mod for Europa Universalis 3: In Nomine. However, while I can provide regional names that should work no matter what actual dynasty ends up ruling many areas, Seleukia is based directly on the General. Was there an alternative name for the region that might be appropriate for the time? Or at least the core region, with the faction controlling other regions outside of it. Medea comes to mind, but I don't believe that's appropriate. Makedonia still works fine for Greece,the Ptolemiac faction can remain Egypt with government and culture shift, but I'm not sure for Seleukia. Syria?

What about the other generals? Lysimachos, and Kassandros. The infantry generals?

From the translated works of Polybios at least (and I think Livy too and other authors), the Seleukid kings were refered to as Kings of Syria. Then again the Seleukids refered to Syria as Seleukis.

Honestly, Seleukeia or Syria would be what I'd personally go for.

Kassandros' empire was Makedonia, while Lysimachos' empire was refered to as kingdom of Thrace apparently.

Krusader my opinion is based on no evidence so dont take this as an attack lol, but i thought that when being referred to the kings of syria, i thought these were the kings of arche selukeia (sp) that came from syria, a family line of them born from that country. Just a random piece of knowledge that i always believed true, can anyone back me up historically or tell me to shut up?

His sucessor Antiochus was son of Seleucus and his Persian wife. Now whether his or his descendents had Syrian wives I don't know, and it isn't really something important.

Seleukeia will probably be as good as it can get considering what you intend. The Seleukids never referred to their empire as a Syrian Kingdom - only the Romans ever did.

Something to keep in mind, however, I plan to start before Alexanders conquest, though I'm currently looking for a good, earlier date. I want the player to have the chance to recreate Alexanders conquest, and if he does indeed die for the player, then a regency council could form, and thus give room for successor states to splinter off. I'm still new to modding paradox's engine, but I'm looking for ways to have regions revolt, and a Syria revolting, and by chance being alloted a lot of neighboring states could get everything the Seleukids had would probably be better than creating a seleukid state that may never arise.

Antiochos II married Ptolemaios' daughter Berenike. Antiochos III was first married to the daughter of Mithridates of Pontos and later to a Greek woman. Antiochos IV was married to his sister.

Antiochos II married Ptolemaios' daughter Berenike.

His first wife was Laodike, the daughter of Achaios, his uncle. He later left Laodike to marry Berenike in order to seal peace with Ptolemaios II.

Btw., Antiochos, Berenike and their son were murdered by order of Laodike, so you can see where political marriages can lead to :laugh4:
