Hi,

Is there a list somewhere that shows the translation of the battle mode
voiceovers for the different factions (especially Romani?)

This is EB v 1.1.

So, just to be clear I'm only looking for a list consisting of:

[correct spelling of battle order in original language] - [translation in English]
[unit acknowledgements] - [translation in English]
[misc unit voiceovers, such as when they're fleeing] - [translation in English]

Basically, anything that's said in EB in battle mode that's not a repeating of the
unit name, such as "pedites extraordinarii" cause that's obvious.

EDIT: However, if a unit says something other than its own name, I'd be interested
too. For example, when you click on accensi, they say something like "howueh", and
I'd like to know what that means.

Arranging the list by factions would be a big plus.


I can guess some of what the generals are saying.

"signa curite!" (sp?) is probably "run" or "pursue".
"signa in hoste!" (sp?) is probably attack the enemy or something.


I have no idea what the other faction units say, such as the
Scythian archers.

Anyway, point me to a list if there is one.

Reading through the Celtic lines (I was intrigued as to what did the celtic lines meant), I was mostly curious about the "Boze/Bazb/Bashb" (That's cleared up, meaning Kill or Slaughter), but what about "Wo-lo-lo"? I know it was used in Age of Empires! :P

My faveourite is the Gaullish 'El Ogrim!' - 'Run for your Lives!' (I think) , or as I like to think it, 'Hello Graham!'

What the Accenci are saying, and I think the Leves as well (So long since I used them...) is 'Ave' (In Latin, V is pronounced W), which is the Latin equivelent of 'Yes, sir'. It was also used as a form of salute, and greeting. :book:

But yeh, I'd love to know what they're saying. Particularily with the Gaullish.

Slightly off Topic, but how far off is the Punic Voice mod from completion? Ditto for any others (sorry, forget if there is any others being worked on:dizzy2:)

I conquered Gaul and most of Germania and don't recall hearing either.
Probably not paying close enough attention.

Signa Ferte!

Signa = the battle standard
Ferte = get/win (2nd person imperative plural)

basically "win/get the battle standard"

Signa in hostes = battle standard into the enemy

Signa currite = Hurry/run the standard

I don't actually have a list of translations, I just have the list like this:

create group = militēs unam formate! – milites eximii, unite! – milites congregate! X3
dismiss group = unitas, ab unitate discedite! X3
drop equipment = machinatores machinas demittite! – machinatores, demittite machinas! X3
cavalry, first three lines = equitēs, aciem triplicem in fronte instruite x3
cavalry screen = equitēs, ad frontem! X3
column formation = militēs agmen instruite! X3
double line = militēs, in duas acies! X3
infantry, first three lines = peditēs! aciem triplicem in fronte instruite! X3

So you basically have to ask for each instance, and I can respond.
