I reinstalled EB from scratch (rtw.exe) and applied all fixes (yes, the client ruler script last).
Now, when i try to start a new campaign, i enter the faction selection screen, when i make my choice and click to start, it loads a second, then returns to the screen where i select whether to start new campaign or play historical battle. Any idea what might cause this?
that used to happen a lot to me when I was modding the files:sweatdrop:, however I'm not quite sure what causes it , In my case something was wrong with descr_strat, I think once I heard konny say that errors with EDCT (export_descr_character_traits) file also caused that , but since you're using the normal EB files... I'm not sure... did it worked before you applied the fixes? if it did... then something went wrong when applying the fixes...:sweatdrop:
I think I remember someone saying that you need to load up default EB 1.1 WITHOUT any alterations or fixes and load up a campaign before you start modifying files, otherwise this happens. I'm not sure if it's true, but it's worth a try.

Typically something in descr_strat.txt. Try to see if you can get it to produce any error message by adding -show_err to your shortcut (target line). If you're using the Trivial Script, simply run the Configuration shortcut and tick the box that applies, otherwise add -show_err to the end of your 'target line'. ~;)
Also, you can try a validation.

Thanks for your suggestions.
In the meantime, i just reinstalled EB and applied just the permanent fixes. Everything works fine now (with client ruler script completely deleted) so the source seems to be one of the other 'fixes'
