1. Could someone explain to me how acumen works? I know what it relates to, but how is it actually implemented in the game? If I am garrisoning a small keep with a non-combat general (governor), would acumen be important?
2. Is there a way to see how much of my income is from farming? When I choose to upgrade farmland to 20% improvement, it tells me how much income that will bring in, but is that IN ADDITION to what it already brings in, or is that after adding the 20% bonus? If so, how can I tell how many florin I receive for farming each year? In STW, you could clearly see which regions were more agricultural, and you wouldn't waste money on non-productive regions.
3. This may be in the books somewhere, but can anyone offer me tips on setting up trade routes and building merchants so that I can make money? I'm at the point in my campaign where I have vast armies defending my borders (almost all of western Europe), and even though I've been declared the wealthiest and the most developed, I can't seem to make a profit. I am English, and have an army of over 6,000 Spaniards in Morocco ready to reclaim their homeland, I still have the French in a couple of regions (allied, don't want to break it just yet), and the ever-growing Danish armies to the east.
4. I have seen references to heirs being kidnapped, yet I have never seen any kidnappings in almost two full campaigns. What causes this? Can I kidnap other heirs?
5. Is there a way to get your prince to marry before he becomes king, other than wait until an offer is made by another leader? Sometimes my king will live to 80 years old, and when he dies, his heir is 60 and still not married! Then I get scared that he'll die before he has a boy come of age!
6. I agree that morale is the single most important factor in all battles. But can anyone tell me how the stars are used in combat? I know they indicate the leadership of the general, but what exactly does that incorporate into? Morale? How much damage units do? How well they follow orders?
7. I have given up on trying to marry my daughters off to other kings, because half the time they refuse, and by the time my little princess gets across the map, she becomes an old hag and cannot marry. So now I marry them off to my generals all the time, they never say no! Can anyone tell me an easier way to marry off my princesses?
8. I have never had a problem with loyalty. Sure, occasionally I start off with a general with only 2 or 3 loyalty icons, but they've never betrayed me or been bribed. So why is loyalty so important? I play at "normal" difficulty, so maybe that has to do with it.
9. I get confused when moving troops overseas. One turn I can transport an army to another province, but then the next turn I can't, even though the ports are still there and the ships haven't moved. What causes that, is it a bug? On a related note, I hate it when you send in a big army to another province overseas (like Ireland), and after they win, they are trapped until you build a new port and shipwright. That happened to me once, and my largest army was stranded on the Emerald Isle for about 15 years while I tried to earn some positive cash flow.
10. Is there any way that allies can aid each other? It would be nice if I could send a few florins to my French Allies when I see they are struggling with the HRE. Or if an ally could help out in an attack with a few troops. Also, what punishment, if any, happens when you break an alliance (other than perhaps being excommunicated, which is regardless of alliance)?
