I've been in the 'Chariots or Cavalry' poll and i've been thinking, which is better: Chariots or Mercenary Chariots? I'd prefer Mercenary Chariots because instead of waiting an extra turn or two for them, i'd recruit them on the way to an enemy settlement.
Also the fact that i think chariots are weak and a waste of time to wait for one or two turns that they'd be a good idea to recruit as a mercenary.

I haven't played this game for some time, where about can you recruite Chariot Mercenary on the campaign map? (Apart from the Hyperboria region)

Definitely your own chariots...... with its low defense, chariots will take quite some casualties in a few battles irregardless of micromanagement, unlike elephants. Retraining doesn't take two turns. Besides which, chariots can be built with only a blacksmith, so I typically build them on island settlements or settlements behind the front lines, who wouldn't have been producing anything anyways.

I'm not sure you can recruit Mercenary Chariots anywhere but it was a thought to see which you'd prefer.

My own. With chariot's multiple hit points and low unit size, you want every bit of upgrade and experience you can get.
Which type of chariot? I would prefer my own light chariot archers because you can retrain them and is only one turn recruitment anyway.
But Scythed Chariots I would rather have as mercs, take two turns to build.
