Well, tomorrow is going to be a very busy day for me, and I always forget to check in, so I figured I'd post early this year. It's technically 3:00AM in Paris, so I think it's okay to sneak this in.
Happy Bastille Day! Have a wonderful celebration!

You say equality, yet there is more white on that picture than red or blue!

One always feels somewhat conflicted celebrating an incident that led to one of my forebears becoming considerably shorter, yet gave so much to the world.
Félicitations! :balloon:
Joyeux 14 juillet !!

It appears she has a 4 Defence rating but a +3 morale effect. Is this a hint at a new unit for ETW?
:france: Bonne fête! :france:

You've made my country possible, and the world a more cultured place. And one of the most spiritual experiences of my life was the feeling I had in Notre Dame Chartres. Thank you.

I love all the pictures! :jumping:
Two more. The first one is from a 14 July parade last year. I think it is such a lovely picture, for so many reasons. I won't spoil it by elaborating on my thoughts about it. Instead, I'll leave it open to everybody's own interpretation:

The second pic is taken in Bordeaux. A kiss and a cigarette in public - those two emblems of Liberty. ~;)
In the back, the monument to my beloved Girondins. The spirit of Liberty on top, breaking free of her chains.

Joyeux 14 juillet !!

Félicitations! :balloon:Ah, but officially, the 14 July doesn't celebrate July 14th 1789, but 14-7-1790. Not the Revolution, but the reconciliation feast a year later is celebrated.
Having said that, especially for you:
'The execution of the Girondins'. ~:mecry:

And what would the world be without French fries, French toast, and French kissing?

To echo others, allow me to thank you for helping us with our independence (no offense to Brits). Viva la France!! :france:

Breakfast would be much less tasty, making out wouldn't be as fun, and burgers & sandwiches would be lonely. ~;)

Regardless of what the post below says, the French are great. Except for (BACKROOM ALERT) EU-maniac Sarkozy. But other than that, great. ~;)
Breakfast would be much less tasty
"French" toast was known across Medieval Europe, so it's not stricty French.
making out wouldn't be as fun
Right you are.
and burgers & sandwiches would be lonely. ~;)
Belgians invented fries. ~;)
Now to wait if Belgium will survive for long enough for us to celebrate next week's Belgian National Holiday here...
:drama2:
Meh, whatever happens, there will be beer ~ :barrel:
Warning - Belgian politics in the following picture:
Former prime minister Verhofstadt vs his challenger Yves Leterme debating about important affairs in a drinking contest during the 2007 elections campaign:

The French revolution was, in my opinion, a blood fest, so you will not see me celebrating it, but I will celebrate France for what she gave to the world. (coincidently mostly before the revolution)
I love French architecture, the language, and the culture. Viva la France!

I was actually in France for the 14th, in Granville, Normandy. It's great ( I love the country) but there were a lot of people with firecrackers at 2am!
Mais...
Vive la France!
