Just curious. I got my start in wargaming with model soldiers and then moved on with some Avalon Hill games. I was wondering how many current EB players did the same? Be interested in your replies. Good luck!

Never done any of that style of wargaming. For a brief time in my late teens I did Warhammer 40,000/Epic, but lost interest. I like the fact that something like R:TW keeps my living space clutter-free. No fiddly little miniatures about the place.

Yeah, I got started with figure wargames 35years ago!! Moved into boardgames as well SPI et al.
I got pretty good a painting figures won a few competitions etc, I've got 15mm Napoleonics to die for.
Now I look at EB and the figure modelling and I'll never pick up a paintbrush again.
Also I wish the EB team had been around in the 80's to put WRG in thier place!!

1:72 plastic for me, later boardgames (favorite "Imperium Romanum" unfortuantly lost during a move) and the first "serious" computer games like the first Civ.

Well, my fascination with history began when I found out about IndoGreeks and especially Menandros.

A Greek kingdom spanning present day Pakistan and NW India. In the Hellenistic age. Conquering up to present day Bangladesh. Mentioned in Buddhist holy texts. Menadros' ash being distributed to cities much like what happened with Buddha himself.

If you look at the distances involved, from Present day Greece to Bangladesh, and factor in the fact that the fastest engine available was horse, aka 20 Km/h they might as well have been living "A Long time ago in a galaxy far, far away".

That was it. I was hooked. Still am, as you can tell. Then I found EB.
