As if 99% of the people don't quit the game before it comes to that anyway. Very important :coffeenews:.

I'm also in that 1% <.<

but where would this song be? :thinking2: what's a defeat song anyways:sweatdrop:

I'd say a music made by a rap singer, since, at least for me, rap represents deeply how degenerated and defeated a civilization can become, so...... rap, goddamnit

We have battle defeat music.

Never heard of it. Where can I find it? Or how can I listen to it?

Bactron

I think that recorded voice of Nelson Muntz with his trademark "Ha Ha!" would fit nicely for this situation.

BTW: I am also amongst the 1% of those who dont exit the battle before they lose. The fact is that I love it when I get my ass handed to me by AI.

Strategos Alexandros

This 1% seems to be becoming 2%. Possibly because the 99% don't want to show themselves up, but anyway.

Hooahguy

no, its not rap- ill prst it latert todayt. btw, i mean battle defeat music. ive never heard it, nor do i see it among the music listings.

Count me in with the 1%.

Very very odd. I uploaded it in mid 2006, but it was somehow lost or deleted. In December of 2006 I uploaded it a second time, but again it has been lost or deleted. I just put it in our internal build again, but am trying to find a way to make it available to folks now who want to drop it in. It was made by Nick Wylie and serves as defeat music for all factions.

As dwarf fortress motto goes:

"LOSING IS FUN!"

Or in my case:

"Losing is me going on a rampage around the house screaming obsenities"

Not the rest of us, there isn't.

Apparently you've never heard of MF Doom. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e15RC6CaBb4)

Seriously, a guy who eats mushrooms like popcorn and performs in a Dr. Doom mask... how can you call that "rap?"

MarcusAureliusAntoninus
07-15-2008, 22:03
That clearly fits my definition of rap.

Reverend Joe
07-15-2008, 22:06
Marcus, man, I've heard real gangsta rap. It's really awful. Like, painfully awful.

Trust me, this guy is a lot better, and a lot different.

Hooahguy
07-15-2008, 22:07
ok, here it is, but apparently you guys already have losing music, but thins can be for battles, i guess, if you dont already have.

btw, im part of a mod team (im the publicity/scripter/storyline writer) which uses this song, so ill have to check with the mod leader if you can use it if you like it.

extreme realism mod, for BF2142

Hax
07-15-2008, 22:36
..how exactly can you know what is realistic in 2142?

General Appo
07-15-2008, 22:42
I havn´t seriously listened to any rap/hip-hop since Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and the Sugarhill Gang. But yes, there is a difference.

Oh, and count me in with the 1%. Strange isn´t it, that amongst the people in this thread 100% appears to belong to that 1%. Strange indeed.

Hooahguy
07-15-2008, 22:42
we dont- but we add realistic features like blood, ejecting shells, ect.
best BF2142 mod out there- if u have BF2142 check it out!

When I'm suffering a defeat, I have two small units hold up the enemy while everyone else goes on a fullscale retreat.

General Appo

When I´m suffering a defeat, I order all my units to charge the enemy commander head-on, even if he´s behind 19 units heavy infantry. Just kill that SOB.

Hooahguy
07-15-2008, 22:53
i do about the same thing that Hax does, but when i lose i get the ghostly defeat screen, and no music....
i want music dammit!

Hey, me too, Havok. Hell, I wish I was the lead guitarist in a Cream-style acid rock band. (Or bass player; Jack Bruce was one bad mofo. Speaking of which, where have all the good bass players gone? Jack Bruce, Jack Cassady... but I digress.) But we all gotta try to have eclectic taste... it makes the whole world seem more interesting.

As for the actual topic at hand... I don't really see defeat music as anything approaching a priority. I mean, I don't listen to the in-game music (it's too cheesy, sorry...) and even if I did, I don't think I would be in the mood to listen to music just after losing a battle.

+1 in the 1%.

I don't fight to the last.

When I feel like losing (hehum, errr sometimes the AI makes me feel that way too, but it's another story) I get the hell out of Dodge to fight another day. But, like a doting father, I make sure all my units are safe and out of trouble before I quit.

||Lz3||
07-16-2008, 06:09
once when I knew I was going to loose , instead of just telling them to retreat I just sent them running to the edge of the map... then I pressed W... and instead of jsut crossing the frikin' line they started running in every direction , wich eventully got them killed :wall:

dominique
07-16-2008, 07:00
You must bring them to "your" edge.

||Lz3||
07-16-2008, 07:22
that's what I did... they ran to the enemy forces...got themselves killed, and then they returned to the line :shifty:

dominique
07-16-2008, 08:55
Well, that beats my phalanxes running all over the place instead of lowering their pikes in front of cataphracts.

Thank you RTW for these well-timed "undocumented features"

Count me among that "1"% of those who play until the end even when defeat. *grin*
I also continue to play when I win in order to try to kill running enemies (not very honorable, but who cares asd). :laugh4:

Btw, for solving the problem, I simply reintroduced the old defeat bgm of vanilla Rome in the soundtrack, since it's good and atmospheric, since I generally prefer the original scores (however I mantained the best EB tracks: some are really good, other ones are terribly boring for me; besides I added some other tracks from another game OST, but now I'm a little OT), since it perfectly fits the mood ofa defeat, since I really wanted any track to hear when I am defeated on the campaign map or on the battle map.

This proposed loss theme imho is nice but I'd prefer a more "dramatic" one, however.

My apologies for mistaking defeat to mean "lost the game" rather than "lost the battle". Indeed I have often seen a battle defeat. How many have ever seen the defeat movies though?

dominique
07-17-2008, 14:12
I did. Hayasdan 1.0 game. The grey death swarmed me almost right away (I had only two towns). It was insulting to see the AS with larger kinsmen units than mine. They bought them as mercenaries. One of their stack had 3 kinsmen in it. What can you do? I did the boyscout thing and the olympic credo. I did my best. I participate.
