Widescreen Issue

Noticed a small issue recently that when I have the wide screen option selected in the options menu it causes a weird bug on the strategy map where the islands between Greece and Asia Minor flicker as you scroll around the map. The flickering is caused by the beach graphic of the little islands appearing and disappearing when viewed at different angles but this is only true of the area near Greece as the rest of the islands and coasts do not have this problem on the map. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if it is a problem with my set up. Ill post screen shots showing what i mean in a bit.

I figured it was an install issue but reinstalling didn't help and if its a graphics card issue i would expect it to effect more then just that one area of the map. Not a big deal game play wise just makes that area of the map not so pretty as the rest and its hard to avoid Greece in the game.

I would try changing your display drivers. Try to upgrade to the latest first, then try an older one if it makes no difference. I've never seen this before.

I have but never payed much notice. It's not even annoying, and I guess it's more of a scale conversion than anything else there. IIRC I don't even have the widescreen option toggled (though I do have a widescreen monitor), mainly because I never noticed a blind bit of difference between the two modi. <_<

Checked and I believe you are correct it is due to the newer ati drivers. I'm using an ati x1600 and downgrading the drivers seems to fix it just weird for my head that it only effects this mod and that small area of the map while on wide screen. It happens even if I switch the strat map graphics for the roma serrectum ones from the mini mod pack thread, but if i use either RS or EB graphics in roma serrectum it doesn't happen. But its definitly the driver which makes my head hurt as it makes no sense to me. Well probably should just take my ocd meds.
