View Full Version : Got Marian!

Spoiler alert!
#######################
It was about time.
It was harder than I thought.
I'm playing VH/M, and haven't conquered 90 settlements yet.
I got it the other way, by meeting the other requirements and
somehow there was a general with the right personality type.
It wasn't the guy I was grooming to be the Marian, since he wasn't
consul/ex-consul yet. So I have no idea which other guy triggered it.
Either way, just glad I got it.
I noticed the turn I got Marian that a bunch of Arche Seleukeia cities
started "flickering". Basically, it looked like a bunch of cities were selected, and
started pulsing.
Anyone have an idea what that's about?

well... I'm not sure wut it is, but i do know that is an effect from using the force diplomacy mod
It means you could have pressed the Show Me How button in the Faction Scroll.
Do you fancy posting a save game file? I'd be interested in taking it from wherever you are as I've never persevered long enough to get Marians. The longest I get was about 3 years off when EB1.1 was released, and I couldn't turn that down, Marian or not!
:idea2: have you tried saving and reloading? that solves the issue with force diplomacy... and it looks like the same...
those usually indicate settlements you need for the victory conditions...

The issue with FD? Do you mean the pulsing white squares?
Just press "?" somewhere, anywhere again and they'll stop flickering.

Oh ok. So, I must've done something totally unrelated to
Marian to get those pulsing squares.
I did not use FD yet. I might have to for the 66 BC civil war CTD.

By 3 years off you mean you were 3 years away from the min date to get Marian Reforms, right?
I thought that once I got the min date it wouldn't be hard to get Marian.
However, it was getting the right character to be consul, without cheats, that was hard.
I also didn't assassinate other family members or "cause any unfortunate but convenient accidents" to expedite giving consulship to the character
that I was grooming to be the Marian character. Yeah, I adhere to the law as much as I can.
Sure, I don't mind spreading the joy at all.
I'll figure out how to post the savefile when I get home tonight.
From the note about Marian above, and me not being an expert player,
the year is actually getting there for Augustan reforms. Hopefully
finding Augustus won't be that hard. (famous last words).
Oh, and by the way, I'm still not sure which of my family members is the Marian
character yet. It's not the one I was grooming.
Open the faction Summary scrool, with the finances diplomacy family tree etc. Top right is a question mark, press that and the squares disapear.

@Apgad,
Here you go... http://www.axifile.com?3649839
It requires EB 1.1 for the others interested.

And in case people are interested...
I actually had two characters that I was grooming to be the Marian character.
One is now faction leader and the other the heir.
It turns out the heir became consular before the faction leader did.
If you want to use my savegame they're both travelling together near
Tolosa and Gergovia on their way back to Rome, where they shall retire as heroes
and see their Republic be usurped by some young arrogant Augustan character.
Muhahahahah.

I remember using one optional fix, but it was regarding the one on the missing sprites.
According to that page it's retroactive (don't have to start new campaign).
It was detailed under EB Bug Reports & Technical Help.
Looks like there's an Alexandria fix that's retroactive. I think I'll
be using it later on.
If you have a specific one in mind do ask me cause I might just have forgotten about it...

The missing sprites fix is a permanent one.
