Mini Simpsons Mafia (sign up)

Greetings all-

An astoundingly brilliant idea was proposed by Quintus.J.Cicero to have a Simpsons-themed Mafia game, which I offered to host, as a ridiculously obsessive Simpsons fan myself.

Having made myself familiar with the rules for Mafia games, and needing experience to draw from, I hereby offer you a preview of things to come: The Mini Simpsons Mafia!

This will be a small mafia game, using Simpson's characters, to familiarize myself with hosting mafia games and also work out potential issues for the larger games. It will also give me a chance to test my ability to write convincingly the deaths of Simpsons' characters by the Mafioso.

Those of you interested in the large Simpsons Mafia game I am planning should join, because space is limited and it will give you something to nibble on while waiting for the large shipment of D'oh-nuts.

8-12 players max.

Warning: This is my very first time, either as a host or a player. However I am a big fan of the mafia games played in the past and I have learned the rules of the game.

With such a small group, I've given almost everyone a special ability designed to extend the game to prevent an early town or early mafia victory. I am considering revealing to everyone which character they are, but not revealing to everyone the special abilities of all the characters.

1. There is at least one scummy character, so no practical joke game here. There is an evil side and a good side.

2. There is something in place to prevent the end of the game when the scummy character dies, but the game is winnable by Town.

3. Town has a number of characters with special abilities. Nothing too extravagant; certain characters will be able to withstand a lynch or a murder attempt, for example.

4. You do not want to lynch certain characters. :devil:

I do not approve of monitoring other player's private messaging activities, as this is both unsportsmanlike AND unreliable. Double whammy.

If anyone becomes inactive or drops out, I would like to substitute a player in their place. I dont want dropouts to kill a fun game. They will take on the same role the first player had.

Just to be clear, so this game isn't killed by a moderator before it's time,

I am willing to wait until hades freezes over for the game to actually start. I'm waiting my turn. But I'd like to see how many people are interested, and if I have a full house, before I begin constructing this labyrinth of clues and deception to trap little orgahs in.

The game will start whenever I am up in the queue and Andres or whomever gives the OK to begin.

I am keeping the first post in this thread updated with the rules, players, and vital info. Please refer to post number one and the most recent posts to keep up to speed on the game.

Game info:

1. Turns will be divided into day and night, as usual.

2. Day phases will last 48 hours, Night phases will last 48 hours. (I am in college and I have a girlfriend, besides you all have lives as well. I am no longer directly involved in any hotseat games, so until this game is over, this game is my one baby that I will take care of.) If I am away from my desk, I may not meet the deadline, and you all will be allowed to continue posting or get your votes in. I would ask you not change your vote after the 48 hour mark, please. It's not a rule, just a sportsmanship guideline. If you want to change after that, please explain to me why.

3. You may not copy anyone's private messages, and everyone must make a post during the day phase with thier votes, which will be bolded in the standard way, examples:

Vote: John McCain

Unvote: John McCain
Vote: Barrack Obama

4. Abstains are not good for town, and they are not allowed. Play the game, do not abstain.

5. Players are allowed to reveal (or "reveal") their hidden abilities in public or private. Just remember, they could be lying.

6. Those who abstain from voting or posting may be killed by Yama, the Hindu god of death (WOG'ed) and REPLACED with a volunteer.
Reincarnation is one of the many beliefs of the Hindu faith... :laugh2:

7. Those who die will not be allowed to vote, but may continue to post at my discretion. However, I will ask that they act less as a participant and more as a spectator. If I ask you to refrain from posting, please do so. No hard feelings.

Pm monitering may still happen, but with your rule, yay its gone.

Subsituting has happened before, and is allowed. I even made a thread for it a long time ago.

I am now going to create the Mini Simpsons Mafia Game Thread.

I will repeat and make clear and concise all the rules, and start off the story. Everyone will answer roll call, and when the final player announces that he is ready to begin, the game officially begins and the 48 hours of day 1 will begin and everyone will recieve their roles.

Don't want to use this thread, because it's already messy and if people want to make posts related to the game but not in the official thread, they can do it here. Example, rule discussions or other related-to-the-game discussions, even off topic discussions between the game players will be allowed here.

Debates, accusations, votes, stories, etc (actual gameplay) and little else will exist in the Game Thread. I won't penalize the occasional OOC comment, but lets limit it to make it easier to follow the game.
