Ave! Vires Quod Veneratio! These are screenshots from the upcoming mod that I'm doing. It focuses on the Roman Imperial period and is perfect for Lorica Segmentata lovers. Total there are 22 new and reskinned units. An optional EBBS script will be included to get the imperial reforms very early and allow you to enjoy crushing your enemies with these fine soldiers. You must have the Alexander Expansion and it is recommended that you play as Rome. Some of the features include:

- Epic Walls
- Foundries
- AoR for new units and modified AoR for some existing units
- Reduced recruitment and upkeep costs for all factions (larger armies and more battles)
- Small population growth bonuses for farms and granaries
- Descriptions for new units and modified one for existing units
- Numbered First Cohorts

Disclaimer: As stated in previous posts, these models and skins are NOT mine, they were done by Ferres and are available at the TWC site as Modding Legion Pack 1.5.

Depending on popularity I may continue this or it may end up on the ash heap of the EB forum like so many mods, either way, please enjoy! :2thumbsup:

Jesus, they're good. I mean, PROPERLY good. Have a baloon: :balloon2:
Minor thing, but wasn't the praetorian guard a royal blue? or is that just me being thick?

but

- Epic Walls
- Foundries
- AoR for new units and modified AoR for some existing units
- Reduced recruitment and upkeep costs for all factions (larger armies and more battles)
- Descriptions for new units and modified one for existing units

i'm not sure if i liked this, nor the script to make imperial reforms early, there's a way to you upload just the units ?

I hate to be nitpicky, but the historical "Urban Cohorts" are already represented as the Vigiles.

mucky305
07-19-2008, 17:27
@Reverend
Yes, the Vigiles represent the Vigiles Urbani who functioned as the police and firemen of Ancient Rome. These units fit into the EB timeframe as well. The Cohortes Urbanae performed similar roles (maintaining order) and were used to counteract the power of the Praetorian Guard (which I doubt the Vigiles could do). They did exist but either don't fall in the EB timeframe and/or weren't significant enough to inlcude. I never said this was 'historical'.

@Havok
The script will be optional. However, the EDB and EDU fit together and the AoR's are needed to include the new units. Foundries and Epic walls also take a LONG time to build and get to and they are costly so you may never even see them.

@Che
Dunno, I know that violet (purple) was the color royalty due to cost so these units are purple (Royal Guard).

Thanks!

Well done!
But is this mod historically accurate?
Edit: Oh I see.. It's not historical..

So, if i download just the unit pack i'll have just the units along with the Foundries and Epic walls right? no other changes to upkeep or whatever right?

oh, my bad. Still though, this is truly a fantastic mod. the models are just GORGEOUS. They need you for EBII modelling/skinning, as if this is what you're capable of on your own, well, just wow.

Anyway, it is a great honour to present to you the Che Roriniho Biscuit of Excellence.

Yeah, they're from Ferres modding legions pack. Roma Surructum uses them too.

edit: do the Romans start with a big empire then?

Nah, it looks good though. Sadly, living in england and aged 15, Cachaca is hard to obtain.
Random question, but why you ask? :p

Its not Cachaca, its Cachaça XD

the reason i ask is because not long ago i saw one member of this forum that at his location, he putted

'drinking caipirinhas at bla bla bla...' (cant remember the rest)

and for some reason i thought it was you :sweatdrop:

Looking foward to incoorporating parts of this mod into my game. :)

Out of curiosity, how historically accurate are the Turchoise Romans? I understand Red was standard, which always seemed strange to me; but were Turchoise uniforms really that prevalent in the Roman Imperial Armies?

mucky305
07-23-2008, 13:58
I think color was based on what was available and cheap. I'm not sure if they used red as much as rusty brown and I'm pretty sure that green and I know blue/purple were available but expensive. I'm just using it as differentiation for the units. I'd prefer straight dark blue or dark green but it is what it is.

Why not make a mini mod for EB begining at the dead of Nero with Vespasian as Caesar. It will be more fun to use those awesome skins fighting the Judaens, the Pahlava, the Getai and the might of the German people, and what about invading Brittania, ( was already conquered at this time in history!:oops:, who cares ).

Cheers.

That would be a really good idea for a mini mod; unfortunately, the Romani and Pahlava would be the major powers of the time, and playing the ROmani at the time of its height almost defeats the purpose, imho.

It might not be bad to play at the time of Caesar; when the empire was feldgling and very much overstretched....

If you do decide to continue with it (which I really hope you will) how much in terms of percentage do you think the mod is ready? My question is due to the fact that at that time period the large majority of the factions in EB would have been destroyed by then and I am wondering how you will still allow the remaining factions to be a challenge to the now huge empire.

late roman mod? what years?

mucky305
09-03-2008, 13:54
The years are the same except that I'm trying to change to AUC from the BC - AD system while including the historical event triggers. The game will also proceed well into 100 AD and the time of the Pax Romana and the five good emperors. The battles are definitely challenging as the armies are large and contain many elite units (Carthaginian Sacred Band is particularly prevalent).

At the time of Nero's death you would have three Roman factions hostile to each other (Galba/Otho in Spain, Italy and Greece, Vitellius in Gaul and Vespasian in Asia). That could be fun to play.

I had a 1980s board game named "Imperium Romanum II" that had tons of scenarios like that for the Imperial and late periode that could be "digitalized" using EB (or IBFD for the late periode). Unfortuantly I had lost it together with the "Scenarios Book" while moving a few years ago.
