Okay, this is really rather odd. Today, we were low on groceries, including milk and such. So for the first part of the day, I just skipped breakfast and patiently went through some of the stuff I needed organizing. The day went on, and, after I was done organizing, I decided to go see a movie. While there, I ingested my first food or drink of the day outside of my multivitamins, a bottle of Mountain Dew. This was at 3:30 PM, or 15:30 for those using non-U.S. time records. I spent about 2 hours at the movie, came back home, and watched some baseball with my dad whilst perusing the .org occasionally. Game is just about over, and what is odd, is that I'm just finally feeling hungry, and I'm not thirsty at all.:inquisitive: I mean, I've gone through the entire day without eating, something I never do, and only now, at about 9:00 PM, or 21:00, do I start to feel hungry? Is this just an hiccup in hunger habits, or is this something I could actually start considering as normal?

It happens when your body doesnt digest food for a while +8 hours iirc it starts eating excess muscle and what not and then once it goes through a certain amount your stomach will want some food

I could be entirely wrong though and just throwing out random WRONG info.

If your body started eating excess muscle after 8 hours, we'd all look like concentration camp survivors. Your info is very wrong.

iirc, hunger is controlled by the hypothalamus in the brain. Basically, it releases chemicals or something when you are and aren't hungry. You can go for about 10 hours before you start getting hunger pangs.

But then, i could be just as wrong as my esteemed friend.

I usually don't eat anything until around supper time (6pm).

If you don't do much physical activity after waking up, you won't get hungry. Probably has to do with your metabolism not activating. I've had it happen a lot. Probably mainly happens to younger people, too.

It's best to go ahead and eat something anyway, even if it's just a sandwich, or some cereal or a banana, anything. Eating will get your metabolism in gear and you will feel hunger normally afterwards.

You want to hear an impressive hunger story? When my dad worked construction, he would have nothing in the morning except a cup of coffee, and just a ham sandwich (and maybe an apple) for lunch. With the amount of physical activity he had to do every day, I am astounded that he was able to do that for almost 20 years.

Thing is, I'm usually the same. I'm almost always real big on making sure I grab something before breakfast, perhaps due to being bombarded about how important it is. And of course, for most of my school life, lunch was around 11:00 to 12:00 or so, so not eating until 9 in the afternoon felt most unusual...

I smoke too much which is probably half the reason i can manage it, that and i really feel like im wasting money when i buy food from a shop or something, so i try to wait until im home to eat..... which is usually later in the evening...

Eh, happens to me now. I just wake up not feeling like eating breakfast and then there is a seminar or something so I don't get to each lunch till 2 pm and even then I'm not hungry. Then again, sitting in a lab just watching bacteria grow (literally) isn't really the most backbreaking labor

That's a bit of a straw man. His info isn't very wrong. Have you ever wondered why not eating usually isn't a great a way to lose weight?
