I see from that the starting money for the factions depends on the difficulty level.

i.e.
Easy: 10000
Normal: 8000
Hard: 6000
Expert:4000

I am assuming that these only pertain to the human player.... so what do the AI factions start off with at the relative difficulty levels? Is it the same as the human player?

I've tried a little modding to leash the Almohad plagua a little bit - ease them down, you know.

It didn't affected me normally but usually (I was playing the Danes) at the time I became a main player in the domination game, the Almos had conquered half the world and were virtually unstopablle.

So I modded the amount of money they should get (I was playing hard and instead of 6000 I set it on 2000). Even though I later figured that this was only applicable to the human player, I left it that way.

Well, in fact during that game the Almos never became a major power and actually the Spaniards with some help by the Egyptians, eliminated them pretty soon.

Maybe it was a coincidence, of course. One of the devs should know for sure http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

it's always been a sort of 70/30 situation with the almos, which is really cool imo. usually they dominate, but sometimes they get wasted by spain/egypt.

the snowflake factor really makes this game long-lasting :-)

The AI always get the listed NORMAL level.

Ahhh... that brings sense into the equation. Now I can understand why the AI always has so many men and buildings started up.

The easiest way to nerf an oponent is to take away some starting units or buildings or even a province or two.

I gave the Danes Sweden and all of a sudden they are much more vicious.

How do you mod it to give Sweden to the Danes?

Look in campmap/startpos/early.txt . This file controls who owns what at at start of the game, so just find Sweden (currently owned by the rebels) and give it to the Danes.

In Reconquista Mod I made it fun to play in the expert category by increasing the income of the provinces in the whole map..This way you can have an insentive to invade.. The Original settings are annoying and unrealistic because I found myself taking over provinces and being broke all the time..Nothing more annoying than a nag screen telling you "Not Enough Funds To construct" That sucks..Great kingdoms were built with gold gold gold.. Not "Not enough"
