I quit that campaign after I saw it. That's an insult to my beloved faction leader.

Man, he still got a Saba invasion plan ahead. Spies were building networks around the Arabian desert, Ships are ready to transport troops. An expedition was dispatched. The Ethiopia regions were all submitted to the empire and will give full support to the course.

That's bizzar. I suppose you now have a client ruler without that trait?
Did you adopt a client ruler into your family, then he became the leader? Are you using the original client ruler script?
I think it is a starting character:
character Philadelphos Ptolemaios, named character, heir, command 0, influence 0, management 0, subterfuge 0, age 37, , x 183, y 69

Obviously the guy's traits reflect the fact that his wife has him under her thumb.
"Get off your lazy ass and go conquer Arabia. Now." :whip:

It happens when you have a full stack(20 units) in a province and you put a client ruler in
Samus Yervaduni got it....Screwed up my campaign and I gave up on it.
Just a question though, what's the "add_trait ____ _____
code for Client ruler?
Is there a "remove_trait" also? Or is that impossible?
Had the "my FM become client rulers"-problem several times now, biggest fun was when ALL my FMs in my Hay campaign were suddenly "client rulers", I only had some pitiful adopted generals to work with while my glorious leaders sat around bored in the cities -_-
:gah:
that's strange... perhaps he was in the wrong moment at the wrong place

All client rulers in this campaign got that trait. It's strange because in my previous SAKA campaign all client rulers don't have the client ruler trait, but they don't receive any unrest penalty, and the FMs are all fine. Same goes with my Lusotannan campaign now.

I didn't adopt any client ruler. I am using the latest fixed optimized client ruler script. And yes, all this started after I am using the optimized client ruler script, but it's true, the game is running faster than the original one.
And can I just remove the trait? How?

that's even more weird...

Type into the console: give_trait "Character_Name" Type4Governor ( there may be a space in the entry after the quotes- I'm not sure since I haven't had to manually give that trait in a while)
make sure you check names.txt for the internal name of the character you want to give any trait to, since any display name other than a 2 word name is internally recognized in a different format than the one displayed in-game. This is a different format depending on what faction you are playing.

Btw, has anyone got the Family Member trait with the description "hidden" but now showing in every FM? I am referring to the campaign I played with Ptolemaioi.

yes... its normal and it's not a bug , I think you can dissable it without killing your campaign (not 100% sure) open the EDCT and search for Family member then look at somewher were it says "hidden" and add this at the beggining ";"

ah, ok. I thought it must have something to do with the client ruler my FM received. Never saw that happen before.
But can I remove the client ruler trait that my Faction leader got?
Only if "give_trait Type4Governor -1" works because the client ruler trait has no anti-traits. You may also try to add a ";" to the line "Effect MovementPoints -6" under the Type4Governor in export_descr_character_traits.txt. Usually changes in that file might screw up your save but I have read that adding and removing ";"s is save. (backup before!)

I got exactly the same in my Makedonia campaign, completely ruining it. I had just captured Sparte with an army led by Alexandros Argeades and as soon as I installed a type 4 governement, the next turn he got the client ruler trait. Now I keep my FM's away from free governed cities. It seems that only FM's that have the ''Family Memeber'' trait don't get affected by this, as I have a certain Perseus undergoing the Spartan Agoge, without getting the ''Client Ruler'' trait.

I once had a client spawn with the same name as a spy I was using. The spy wound up with the client ruler trait and I got a new cavalry general (I was Saba, so that was odd).
I just destroyed the type 4 gov and installed a new one and the new client worked fine.
Poor spy was stranded, unable to move, in the middle of the desert, however. . .

For people whose family member are getting client ruler trait and are using Client Ruler fix make sure you have properly installed fix. All fm descr_start characters should have FamilyMember trait.
If you installed other fix that has descr_start.txt file over Client ruler fix then you have broken client ruler fix.
Also Client Ruler fix is for Rome Total War game. If you are using extensions like BI you have to mod this fix to be compatible with extension. Otherwise all starting characters will get Client Ruler trait after spending 1 turn in gov4 settlement.

Uhm, what changes are to be done exactly to get it work with BI? My KH empire has grown to an extent where most outlying regions are required to be LvlIV govs for public order and it is VERY annoying to get masses of client rulers every time one of my armies returns from campaign in hostile territories to refresh and replenish my FMs being forced into client rulers kinda sucks. Especially if there is another leader already there and I get spammed with Interloper traits etc. as well -_-
Would be cool if you could tell what has to be written differently or where to copy text paragraphs from

I am using ALX.exe, and yes I notice that FM after spending 1 turn in settlement will get that client ruler trait. How do I make it compatible then?
Too many wierd things happened. Invisible army, clone FM, client ruler trait......:dizzy2: The engine can't handle the EB design anymore....

Client ruler fix changes descr_strat.txt file. To make EB compatible with BI you have to move this file to different folder, I suspect something similar must be also done for ALEX.
Check out EB for BI or ALEX guides for details.

Not necessary. You can run the BI or ALX exe by just changing the shortcut. So, you should be able to run all three exes with the default EB files (at least I do so).

You cant run EB with BI by changing only exe. Few files must be in different directories or have different names (including descr_strat ) at least for BI. I used it for some time and changing only exe will not allow you to start new campaign.
I have no idea how Alex works I just assumed it works similar to BI.
There have been dark rumours that you have to change something first in the files of EB when you want to play with Alex, unless you want immortal generals.
Yes, the trait "immortal" must be added to the game. Doing so should not affect the propper working of EB - at least when you did it right.

Ah yes, now I remember (did not use BI since we got EB running with ALX) the trick was to start the campaign with the RTW.exe, save and continue with the BI.exe.

But... who wouldn´t want that?
I think the matter of how to run EB with BI or Alex.exe was discussed and explained in various threads throughout this forum, I suggest using forum search ;)
You only have to copy&rename some files to make EB work 100% with BI, to get it working with alex adding some code is required additionally.:book:
