Alright, the Alchy's Lab (I just coined a new term) has been lying dormant for a while now, so I'd like to start a discussion. I've noticed that many mods (rather than adding sounds) have been replacing the ones already existent. I've recently discovered the "playlist" file at the root of MTW that is easily moddable (using a text editor). This allows any modder to add their own music (for battles, campmap, frontend etc.) rather than replacing the ones already there simply by adding a few lines of text here and there. Although it might've been noticed it doesn't seem to have been utilised very much by even the largest of mods (or I just never downloaded the music packs =P).

I've also found a file named "TABLES.CFG" in ..\sounds\battle\ that can be edited using Notepad etc. What's special about it is that I believe it can be used to allow different sounds to be played when different projectiles used. In a small mod I've been playing around with, I've started to mess with this file a bit. Anyway, I've found that you can make say a unit armed with a "SBOW" (in the unit_prod) to play the noise of a siege cannon when they aim and launch their 'shortbows'.

My question is has anyone else played around with this?

If you had downloaded my music pack, you should notice that I have added an exclusive playlist for the steppe factions utilizing the stw mongol invasion music, and added 8 new tracks to the existing ones.. but the thing i would like to do is to add a new set of orders for the mongols..It's weird that the guys of the creative assembly didn't...having stw mongol invasion with orders in mongol language..

Interesting. Be nice to have different music for different nations in VI.
