I searched files to see if this was old, but, I got that error message saying the files could'nt be found, sooo.....

In defending in Europe it seems that virtually every battle has rain. Even those that start with clear weather eventually get rain. I find this MOST annoying. Does the AI always try for bad weather, regardless of his odds advantage?

I dont think its a glitch - CA is english company I believe, form where there from its always raining so they dont know what clear wheather is like! Honestly all the rain annoys me too, seems like an unrealistic number of days rain.

remember that the attacker will usually attack in rain to nullify the effects of archery fire. however the only problem is if your attacking almosy always if you keep clicking continue when examining the wheather rain will invariably come up, which is very silly.

On the plus side.... the rain usually stops mid battle. Kinda weird... but generally I dont mind it.

I only wish the game was still season based, so you could actually get a good chance of snow.

Agree with u on the rain thing. its to much.

U can fight in snow if u fihgt atleast 3-4 times in 1 turn. The 3rd/4th battle must b in a territory where it can snow so it wont happen in the desert territorys, atleast i dont think so.

tend to gets lots of rain in the northermost territories, and of course it diminishes the further south you go.
try the Italians: not much rain locally but still European battlefields.

Rain stops mid way, or starts, for that matter because it's "rain clearing later" etc.

Couldn't agree more on the seasonal basis, seems a bit rough that you have to fight 5 battles in a row to get some snow. At least it would be good if sometimes it was snowing, rather than raining.

Welcome back Shai. I can't remember one battle in Europe that didn't have rain at one point, didn't seem to matter if I was defending or attacking either. It's been so soggy that I've decided to start a SEAL training program for my warriors. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

The new weather manager in Medieval is, frankly, not one of our brighter moments. (Did you see what I did there?!)

There is basically too much rain. The weather generally turns to rain if it didn't start that way. It doesn't always stay that way, mind you. I've seen a battle start sunny, then turn into a thunderstorm for exactly three seconds, then go back to sunny.

Snow I can explain more glibly, if not necessarily persuasively: fight more than three (or possibly four) battles in the same turn, and you'll start getting winter battles, which mean a chance of snow textures and snowfall.

The AI does not make use of the "attack / wait" feature to change the weather. We did discuss at one point whether we should let the AI look at its army, look at today's weather forecast, and then take the risk of advancing the day if, for example, it had turned up with sixteen nappy throwers and there was a rainstorm. But we didn't have enough time, and as you can see we didn't really get the weather forecasting system under control: the AI would probably shoot itself in the foot more often than not if it could take risks based on the forecasts http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

there'sone thing you CAN do when you desperately need a good weather - usually it's when defending ... peacefully put your men into postition and kick ctl-t - to accelerate time - sometimes it doesn't take more than minute or two, but once i had to wait for 5 (tried to break even with almohads ... when facing 1:10 superiority ... every arrow counts ...) After nice and sunny weather comes up - hit "start battle"

thus, havent tried this on british soil ... in flanders for example this waiting worked
