stainless steel is nice, 4.1 is without kingdoms and 6.1 if you have kingdoms

Well, Broken Crescent (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=240) is rather famous, if you enjoy the Middle-Eastern setting.
As far as mods are concerned, I've got Deus Lo Vult (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=309) installed.

BC concentrates on the Crusades, starts in 1187 (I think... somewhere therabouts). It features a nice new map, stretching from Constantinople to Western India, and plenty of new factions. Latest version is for M2 1.2/1.3.
DLV corrects the entire campaign, adds lots of roleplaying elements (for instance: do you want your character to be a governor, or a general? You have to choose). There are also DLV versions of the Teutonic and Britannia campaigns. There's also a new version in the works, concentrating uniquely on Europe. Kind of like Stainless Steel, I think. There's a DLV 4.0 for M2 and a 5.6 for Kingdoms.
