A while back I was thinking that if Sega made a sequel to Medieval TW, they should make a sequel to Rome TW.
I think it would be a very good idea.
I want to know your sugestions and ideas for a Rome 2 TW
For me, I would like good historical accurancy like in the Europa Barbarorum mod, in the first place.
Although it's without my second-favourite time period (outside of Ur/Assyria/Egypt), I don't see the need with the amount of modding attention that's been directed towards this period. Yes it would be wonderful to have naval battles, better diplomacy, and cliffs that actually work, but I'm not sure the gameplay improvements would warrant the massive time and energy outlay.
Then again, I'd probably buy it =)

I have said this so many times, different starting period in RTW would be great!
Starting period 1: Rise of Rome. 290 BC
Starting period 2: Punic Wars. 218 BC
Starting period 3: Marian reforms. 107 BC
Starting period 4: Imperial Rome. 27BC
Within each time period different factions would have different objectives, with emergent factions surfacing, more historical events and figures, each with special traits. Also there should be an option over the turn system, some people prefer shorter ones, some prefer longer. So giving the player the option to change how long a turn lasts (4 turn per year, spring, summer, autumn, winter. 2 turn per year, summer and winter, or maybe 1 turn per 2 years, like Medieval II), and of course more historical accuracy…
This should be in the Coliseum (http://https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=32)

i believe a new shogun 2 total war would be better as it is a game that is well loved and is in need of an update, IMO. i do love rome but i think it can last a while longer on its current version.

Sega should learn from mods like Europa Barbarorum and use them to make the game sequel "more advanced" they would then just have to improve the game engine and grafics.
Shogun TW is in a greater need for an update, it's true, but Shogun is a little less famous than Rome(in my point of view, but i can be wrong)

Personally I would just like to see more factions. They should take bigger factions and break them down into more diverse, smaller factions. There are some more things I would like changed...but I can't think of them right now.
:2cents:
I prefer the idea of factions breaking down into smaller rump states. For example the Seleucid empire falling into disarray with the loss of key cities as Ecbatana, Seleucia [on the Tigris] and Susa. Factions like Charakene and Persis would then start to exist.

^ Agree with Hax.
Well, it's more than likely that a possible Shogun 2: Total War will be first, but at some point CA is going to run out of time periods, and they may ultimately have to revisit the classical period.
