Erm, I think this is the right forum for this... Not sure.

Anyway, I was with my parents at an auction today, and we found a spelter bust signed "T Petrini" in white on the neck. The auctioneer said it was of a Roman Slave, something which I personnally doubt.

So, my questions are:
- Who's T Petrini? Petrini is a rather famous name, but a T Petrini? I don't know.
- What are the odds that it's really a Slave? I realize the name sounds more Italian than Latin, and so would have been made after the Roman era, but still... a Slave? Somebody supposedly worthless?

So. If anybody here has any idea of the sculptor and whether it's likely it's a Slave... I'd be most grateful.

I can try to get a picture of it up if need be.

I don't know too much about history, but the slave could've had strong facial features, which would make for a good sculpture.
