hi
just been looking though the EB scripting and I came across this
Building Upkeep (disabled until decent balancing is done)
when will building upkeep be put in?

Maybe it can't be enabled for stability reasons... or the team changed their minds about the historical accuracy of the idea.
Sounds like a real winner of an idea to me. Certain buildings (baths, roads, walls, etc) would require upkeep and it would help keep the late game economically challangine, since advancing cities too much might actually [I]weaken[I] one's war chest.
I hope a team member comes on by; this idea is intriguing.
Noone had the time to properly balance it. The_Mark started the work but went on hiatus, and I was supposed to take over but found out I didn't have the time for it either.
Possibly for EB2. The current values would be far too punishing for the player.

Good to hear it wasn't implemented! Army upkeep already drains so much cash :P
Don't get me wrong, it's a good idea :)

Well then, means of increasing income have to be increased.
Of course that all takes lots of balancing and is most likely not very high on the to-do list for EB2--and rightfully so. Perhaps someone will make an unofficial mod incorporating it into EB1.
