As the Europa Barbarorum website is in the process of a major code-revamp and it is about time to start designing the loooks of the EB 2 website; the Europa Barbarorum team is looking for web designers and coders.
If you have experience with (X)HTML and CSS* and you want to help us updating the EB1 website to make it more portable; and help designing & creating the EB2 website here is your chance! If you choose to help you will be in charge of designing, creating and maintaing the colour schemes, the layout. To get a good idea of what this entails: you could be creating various looks for various cultures, so that a units page of the Arche Seleukeia will look completely different from its Aedui equivalent, using the culture based graphical user interface of the EB mod as a guide.
Now you may think "Different looks for different cultures? Sounds like a lot of work to me...", but the PHP scripts, 'the engine of the website', are designed with [avoiding] this in mind. The 'engine' doesn't require you to write out 7 nearly identical webpages, when in fact all that is required is to change the CSS and perhaps some picture. Likewise, creating a new units page from scratch only needs to involve creating the new text in an XML file. The PHP scripts should 'take care of' the rest.
Also, you will have the opportunity (if you are not experienced in these fields yet) to learn working with XML, XSLT, PHP 5 and JavaScript. You will work on the beta tester forums, and so will have access to the internal versions of EB. Finally, you will have an opportunity to gain EB membership later on**.
If you are enthusiastic about it and feel you could make a great webmaster; contact us at:
-The ORG: PM Tellos Athenaios;
-TWC : PM Krusader.
* We expect that you know how CSS works and how it can be used in conjunction with (X)HTML. A knowledge of JavaScript, XML and XSLT is a bonus but it is most certainly not required.
**Acquiring EB membership usually takes this route: first you join the ranks for beta testing and you are given access to the beta tester fora, where you will have the opportunity to showcase your skills, ideas and enthusiasm. This serves as a trial period; if both the EB team & beta tester consider it a great idea, it will result in membership for the beta tester.
Note: the same advertisement will be posted on the TWC shortly.
