So, I have been playing the games for years I have been reading the books and fanfictions. Now I just saw a movie about the final battle of Zilong(Zhao Yun in the games(Chao Yun in the books)).

And I have to say that it is the most tear inducing group of work I have ever seen or played or read. I mean I actually cried at the end of movie.

So anyone else partake in the love of the Three Kingdoms?

Seriously, I have red the novel when I was in grade 4, and it's definitely one of the most memerable books I've red ever! Three Kingdoms is something that everybody knows in China, there's book adaptions, tv series, and most recently the big budget film which could play a big role introducing it to the West. Anyway its a great novel and definitly the best of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature, though it's far from 100% historically accurate.

Edit: How did you watch the film, I didn't know it was out in America yet.

I was at a friends house and he produced a dvd and said, 'I think you'll like this one'. It had subtitles and I found out ten min into it it was based off the books

I mean in the novel the Wei faction, it's leader Cao Cao historically was a superb tactician and adminstrator, but in the novel was he was portrayed as a arrogant and merciless tyrant. While the Shu faction, viewed by the author as the rightful heir to Han dynasty, had portrayed them in a much better light, and Zhuge Liang was made to look like a genius and almost with god-like powers. The novel was highly fictionalized, although it wouldn't be as good to read otherwise. ~:)

How did he get it? I live in England and can't find it anywhere, it's not out on the cinemas yet and there's no sign of it on any websites either. :no:

BAWWWWWW!!! Its a sad ending and a really good series. Like when I read the books I got really depressed cause it was coming to an end.

It is a very interesting period....

I had to rent the books from a library 300 miles away...and it was the nearest avaliable copies...

Depends on which country you live, if you lived in the far-East then there should several versions in every book store you see... unfortunely none would be in English though. :sweatdrop:

I'd just seen that film on the website you recommended me, I have to say I was not impressed by it. The differences between the film, novel and actual history is rife, I won't be naming all of them. And it isn't very entertaining either. Despite the fact it is an alternative timeline I still found it hard to accept everything about the film. Hoping to see Red Cliff in the future and hopfully it will be better than this one.

Well, at least Zhao Yun died peacefully in his 70s in the novel and real life, others were not so lucky.

Yeah but it was still a sad ending. And I like all the variations of the three kingdoms. from the super fictional to the super historical. And im still looking for "red cliff". Calling all around to my friends who have the connections in asia.

Never seen anything to do with the three kingdoms period in an Illinois bookstore before. Online, yes. bookstore, no.

I live too far away to do that...But amazon usually has a copy floating around.
