The Proscription (Small Mafia Game) [Concluded]

Well, I believe it's my turn. So here's a new small mafia game, hosted by yours truly, Warmaster Horus.

Setting: It is 82BC, and the Roman Republic is in turmoil. Sulla has been named Dictator to restore the Res Publica, and to "purge" the Senate, he has decided to use proscription (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proscription) against his foes. In the Great City, there are many informers who work for him.
In a villa not far from Rome, Sulla has invited 12 Senators, and placed them in the care of his freedman Lucius Cornelius Chrysogonus.
Unfortunately, amongst these Senators are 2 informers, whose objective is to kill the ten others. Upon learning this, the Senators decide to take action, but they don't know who is an informer.
Daily, the twelve will convene and choose, democratically, who will be considered as an informer. Death will follow.

Roles:
9 townies, 1 pro-townie and 2 informers. Pretty much standard setup, really. The pro-townie role will be hidden until the end of the game.

Rules:
Standard rules. Votes and un-votes must be bolded (eg vote:WH). You must unvote AND write the name of your original vote before changing your vote (eg unvote:WH, vote:Andres)
Voting takes place in the day as usual and townies can do nothing at night. No revealing in private, all reveals must be made in this thread. The dead cannot post their night actions or roles but can still speak and advise. No pictures, no quoting PMs... You know, the usual stuff.

One of the Senators declared: "This is the work of informers! I advise that we try to find who the murderer is." Sulla's freedman, amused, said: "Indeed, you eleven choose one of you to die tonight. We'll see how far this brings you..."

This was confirmed when makaikhaan's body was discovered in the middle of the entrance hall, with a large kitchen knife planted in his throat. Once more, Sulla's freedman proposed democracy to try to rat out the informer.

Okay let's round up the suspects.

Andres is lucky to get this far, he has survived at least 2 tie votes (I think), but people keeps on voting for him without any strong case really, so that makes him innocent, but as so many people stated, Andres has been really quite, and he is still alive. Providing that only Mafia players don't get WoGed than it could be Andres, but I don't think he would make it that obvious. So it's not Andres.

Faction Heir has largely led a pro-town life, directing the lynches most of the time. However, a player as threathening as Faction Heir should of been killed long ago, at least if I were the mafia I would. Plus since this game still hasn't ended means that most of the lynches are probably wrong, so Faction Heir could be just pretending to be pro-town but in fact is leading the town into the wild-goose chase to direct the attention away from him. The biggest case I have against him is why a player of his experience who poses a big threat to the mafia hasn't been killed yet. Maybe Faction heir is the mafia, or maybe the mafia is somebody that Faction Heir has never accused yet.

El Diablo has had a fairly good game, nothing too suspcious. If my hunch is wrong then he is probably a townie, and that is what I think right now. But El Diablo is the only person left alive that hasn't been accused by Faction Heir. So could it be the devil that's doing the killing all along?

Elite Ferret has had an indifferent game, similiar to ED. Typical clueless townie guy, but all of this could be an act, he might not be giving anything away at the movement but if we pressure him enough then he might...

The murder of Caius is very strange since I don't think he poses any threat to anybody, so why kill him?

Well I was going to vote for FH after reading El Diablo's post but as some of you probably know I HATE the third on the bandwagon thingy, as I always get lynched for it no matter what else I have done that game...

Again I cannot quote exactly without breaking the rules FH...

But it says some things along the lines of being a townie, no special role, I can vote during the day but can't do anything at night. Then I am wished luck and the PM is signed by WH.

I'm afraid that I cannot give you anymore for I have now paraphrased my entire role PM bar a few sentences at the beginning, a mere greeting which would probably have been in a mafia PM anyway.

Back to the game I thought we had won personally with Quintus dead but as the game has continued that does not seem to be the case. As for who could be mafia I'm not sure, after reading my role PM again and going back over the thread it seems that all of us survivors have quoted or paraphrased parts of the townie role PM so that means either WH wanted to add suspence and end it on a day phase, leaving this night uneventful or he gave the mafia a townie PM in case this happens. But really you guys were lucky not to get WoGed, quoting role PMs is against the rules...

Night is ended, and FactionHeir has been killed. With Andres' suicide, this leaves El Diablo and Elite Ferret.

Write-up: In the morning, three persons were present in the Entrance Hall: Sulla's freedman, El Diablo and Elite Ferret. The freedman declared:
"Two men have died tonight, and one was strangled (FH), the other stuck a knife in his own heart (Andres). I fear it is time to end this charade." A sniggering could be heard then, and the other two turned to the one making that clichéd sound in end-of-mafia-games write-ups. He said: "Indeed, it is time. I am nearing the end of my mission, and it is a mission I will finish in public." He then took out a cord, and approached the one who had remained silent until then, and had time to shout one word before the freedman shut his mouth from behind:
"Ferret!"
For indeed it had been the one called Elite Ferret who was behind these murders. Sulla's freedman, once El Diablo was dead, came up to him and gave him a pouch, that made a sound like it was full of gold. He said: "Congratulations, I didn't think you could do it. Sulla will be pleased. Now, I know you were commissioned together, and that you probably think you should get the gold your buddy Quintus.JC should have gotten, but I don't agree with that. No, I'll keep it, and there's nothing you can do about-" He spoke no more.
For Ferret had brandished a knife, and stuck it in the freedman's neck. "Actually, I could do this. You talk too much. Thanks for the cash." Thus, he left the villa, and went back to Rome, no doubt to carry out more mischief...

So, first of all I'd like to thank you all for participating in this! And again congrats infomers!
I said there were 3 special roles: 2 informers and 1 pro-town. anelious phyros was that pro-town player, and he could investigate one person a night; and at the risk of forfeiting his right to reveal kill one person during the course of the game. Unfortunately, he died during the first day phase, and that seriously hampered the town. I think his role was somewhat powerful, and if he'd been able to continue, could have made this a townie victory.
There are two other things I'd like to mention in this final write-up:
- after the second orders came in (I think it was the second night), I ended the phase just a few hours after it had started, and didn't start it 24 hours after, like I should have. Factionheir's nice analysis put the mafiosi in danger, and since it was my fault, I decided to inform them of anelious phyros' role. Since he was dead, it didn't really influence the game; I wanted the mafiosi to not feel too downcast after the second night.
- during the last day phase, the PM paraphrasing began. This was not strictly against the rules, but close to it. A solution came soon; the mafiosi approached me, saying they didn't stand a chance if this went on, and asked me for the townie pm. I lost because of that in Caius' game, and could understand how they felt. So I gave them the PM. In the end, it didn't do much difference. Andres, realizing it was nearly against the rules, PM'ed me and offered suicide. That happened for RL reasons which I do not know (if you read this Andres; all the best!). This left Factionheir, El Diablo and Elite Ferret. The first was killed, the last was a mafioso, and the guy in the middle didn't have a chance.

So, once again: congrats informers! And thanks everyone for participating!

Well, all the last 3 remaining town did well. Faction heir's exceptional anaylitical skill could of had us on numerous occasions, El Diablo's judgement was spot on as he stuck with Faction Heir when many could of wavered, and Andres's experience and expertise showed up at the last second to delay our victory by one night.

We were fortunate to win, it could of all be so different if Andres had time to finish the game.

Big thanks for Warmaster Horus for hosting the game. It was most excellent. :bow:

Thanks for hosting. I kind of figured you gave them the PM on the last day, and kind of knew it was EF because he and Quintus both didn't reply for a while. I didn't expect Andres to suicide though, thus forfeiting our chances. Soooo damn you Andres! ;~)
