i think they're the hyper-unit of EB...seriously... I find them a PAIN to kill... they killed an entire half stack army of mine, and in my battle to take Korinthos, they slaughtered almost half my army, which was a full stack, by the way.

Considering the base of my army is bronze-armor normal Hoplitai, and Phalangitai Deuteroi, i need to upgrade my army but my recruitment cities aren't big enough... i'm playiing as Epeiros.

thanks

Cavalry charges to the rear once they're pinned at the front. Rinse, repeat.

Though I personally find it very effective to whittle down the number of bodyguards with Sphendonetai & the like first, before engaging them in hand to hand combat. Also a cheap phalanx works wonders, especially the Pantodapoi/Machimoi types. What now with a trusty axe for a side-arm...

No, you don't have to. Playing Makedonia I had absolutly no problems killing the KH bodyguards or Spartiates with Phalangitai Deuteroi. You need to have them attack you, preferable on a hill, or use two units of Phalangitai Deuteroi, one pinning them frontal and the other one attacking from the flank (deep formation and guard mode off for flanking phalanx).

i lost my king in a thunderous cavalry charge from the makedonian king... it was the first charge... just angle your cavalry so that you hit the general... poof! (a little luck combined with elbow grease should do it.)

Also, Thraikioi Romphaoiphoroi should handle the job amzingly well.

are you kidding me????!!!! no offense, but i personally think that the KH generals are easiest to kill. just do waht QS does. and yes, Thraikioi Romphaoiphoroi does the job very well. just look at my AAR- i killed them with ease....
lol
but i did use the Thraikioi Romphaoiphoroi.....
work like a charm.....
i love RP-ing....

pleh... Must be doing somethign wrong... whenever i face off against them, i never manage to get them from behind, and so it becomes much more of a hassle... Anyways, i'ma employ that strat.

Unless you're on the edge of the map, or you've surrounded them with infantry, how can you not get your cavalry behind them?

Pin their front with your infantry. Walk your cavalry round. Move them out to the appropriate charging distance. Charge home.

the first time, i was beign cocky, and simply refused to surround them, i don't know why... so that loss i took like a man.

the second time, i made the mistake of marching my army into a city, and they pinned me on the road. Korinthos was the city...

patience is the key - take the time to get some units, pref cavalry, down a side street and around behind them - hey presto, minced KH general. :) it's a longer way round than on open ground, but worth the wait, obv.
