Having a tough time taking these guys down. I am playing English and am trying a combination of longbowmen, feudal sergeants and royal knights, but it is slow going. I am thinking of sending in highlanders or gallowglasses, but not sure if they will be effective. I am also trying to get Billmen. Any other suggestions?

Mass feudal seargants will do fine...
mix a few longbowand some cavelry for fun & taking prisoners, but just massing them Feudal seargants will d fine http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif.
Arbalesters and longbows are good. Arbs especially because the AUM aren't exactly speedsters. It also pays to remember that the Almohads don't have anything in the way of heavy cavalry, so there really isn't a great need to worry about getting outflanked.
Hehe ... I played the Spanish several times now ... here is how you do it http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif .
Hold them With a tight line of Spearmen, flank them with Militia Seargants or Urban Militia and finaly ... bring some Spanish Jinettes into their backs ... launch some Javelins upon them from behind ... then CHARGE and squish´em http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif .

gallowglasses, arbalests & feudal sergeants = AUM crow fodder. I have some gallows that are 7 valour & I let them charge the AUM head on they kill one third of the unit in the first few seconds

Yep, this has worked for me in two campaigns as well. Guess gallows or highlanders would probably work quite well as a flanking unit as well. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
