I've played RTW a bunch of times on different computers on different installs. Can anyone tell me how to change the sizes of the troops?
The first times I played it and a few times later I had archer troops of 80 units, but now I only have 20 per troop. I know I saw 120 once also. I'm using the archer because those are the only ones I remember.
If anyone could tell me how to get to the larger number's I'd appreciate it. I've been looking at faqs and forums and no one seems to bring it up. Its way cooler to watch 120 arrows flying than 20.
Thanks!

In the Starting menus go to Options, then Video options, advanced options then you will see unit sizes, four choices; e.g archer unit. small 20 men per unit, medium 40, large 80 and huge 120 men per unit. Beware this can have an effect on you campiagn.

At least I think that's the routine, I haven't got RTW installed in my PC at the movement.

Edit: Welcome to the org. :beam:

Thanks!
Seems like the game made a backward way to affect actual game method, but oh well.

In your preferences.txt file there is an option as well. 160 seems to be the maximum, even if you set it higher. (My file is set at 300, the unit descriptions read as 300, but only 160 men are recruited)

I've always wanted to know what is the recommended unit size?

Um, depends for what, I guess.
If you want really big armies against one another, obviously Huge unit size is good. But it can drain your population if you recruit alot. And if your computer isn't that great, well... Huge unit size isn't a good idea.
On the other hand, small unit size doesn't drain your population. It doesn't let you have huge battles, though.
I always use Huge because it's more spectacular. Nothing like looking at 200+ cavalrymen charging against unsuspecting phalanxes...
It depends on your style. I don't really think there's a recommended unit size.
